His name is Prince. And he likes 3rd person. Our Purple Hero refers to himself... or, more precisely, Prince's candles, as I recall.... in "Incense and Candles."
Then there is of course "My Name is.... Prince". what other songs does he use the "P" word? Offhand I can think of: "Call My Name". what others?

" All the fellas call me Prince, all the ladies call me the electric man, cuz when I plug into your socket, I´ll charge you like nobody can !"
And then there is the "majestatis pluralis" (sp.?) , of course, you know, the "we wrote this song", " when we did this album " and so on... " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

International Lover:
"Good evening. This is your pilot Prince speaking" Face Down: "Somebody once told him that he wouldn't take Prince through the ringer" High: "Prince gon' get U high" Is Props N' Pounds the only song where a non-band member refers to Prince by his name? I think so... U been bamboozled, hoodwinked, took.

All is good here, but I think the topic is actually being overlooked.
There are those that would say one's that speak about themself in 3rd person are crazy, however I don't think that is the case here. Moreover I believe his is talking about his Persona that is set appart from his inner being. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Moreover I believe his is talking about his Persona that is set appart from his inner being. He may have constructed such an elaborate persona that he's left his true inner being unattended, left to squalor and malaise. If you're a famous rock star who inspires awe and fear in the masses it's easy to latch onto that aspect of yourself and neglect your real inner nature. It's a state of dissociation, where one aligns themselves with the made up, invented reality of who they are rather than the flesh and blood actuality of their natural physical existence. I think Prince did go through a phase where he denied his humanity, his vulnerability, his failings as a human being. But so do most people.

Alert---
" All the fellas call me Prince, all the ladies call me the electric man, cuz when I plug into your socket, I´ll charge you like nobody can !" For all u guys-- him saying his name doesn't mean he's talking in the third person. If his says his name and the words me, or I-- its usually an introduction or boast. the incense and candles rap brought to mind the fascination rap where he tails off the verse with a P reference - something like "so called king gives birth to so called prince"

From 4 those of U on Valium:
"hey na na hey hey, say little Princey gonna play hey na na hey hey, say you want the Prince to play WLOL, this is your DJ, Prince" The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
