the guy rents a house for 70,000 a month but can't by a star for 15,000. One weird dude....

Prince doesn't need a star. Dude is plenty famous & beloved.
I mean...is the honor of having your name on the same sidewalk with the likes of Ryan Seacrest worth $15,000? A waste, IMO.

An often asked question here. Apart from stumping up the cash, you have to guarantee the celebrity will turn up for the ceremony, which as fans you can't do with Prince. The only way he'd get a star is if he arranged it himself, and when you realise that it is a total publicity stunt ego-trip, you have to admire Prince for NOT having a star.

Does MJ and Madonna have a star? Michael has one.I remember when they gave him a star.It was in early 1984 at the height of the "Thriller" madness.Saw it on the news back then,it was sheer pandemonium with thousands of screaming fans. I don't know if Madonna has a star.I'm sure it would have been a huge media event if she had gotten one. In the early 90s,one of the Prince fan clubs (I think it was Controversy?) was trying to get a star for Prince...raising the money and everything.I don't know what happened with their efforts.

I thought it was given for accomplishments! Damn! It´s really show BUSINESS! "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I totally respect Prince for not setting this up himself - that would be a total ego-trip. And we as fans spend enough money on Prince stuff, I think.
Universal, on the other hand, could use this as a great opportunity to advertise 3121. Imagine if they set it up with Prince so he received the star, performed a few songs on a stage set up on the street (some new tracks, along with the obligatory Baby I'm A Star), followed by a press-invited show at 3121, at which the tour dates are announced. Can't get a much better 3121 promotion than that...
