Definitely add I Could never Take the Place of Your Man

And for variation ya might try:
- Comeback and/or Welcome to The Dawn
- She Gave Her Angels and/or The Cross (but I prefer Angels since the guitar part in the second half is so awesome).

hi all, since purchasing 3121 and witnessing prince tear up SNL and the brits with FURY i have decided to make a mix cd of great guitar trax from various albums. i have decided to restrict myself to only using studio album versions of the songs and trax that r legally avaliable. i also have decided to try and get as much of a "live band" feel as i possibly can. my inspiration for this mix cd is the fact that i have read many posts on here stating they wish prince would do a proper rock album and also because i recently had a conversation with a non fan who saw SNL and said "they never knew Prince could play the guitar like that!!!" so this is for the guitar fans i guess lol
what do u all suggest????

Chaos and Disorder.....

I have to say. I haven't listened to Chaos and Disorder in a mighty long time, but I'm here to tell you. This is a great collection of songs. Every song has some outstanding guitar playing on it. I remember not liking this album a lot but after listening to it again, there are a lot of really great tracks. I remember not liking Right the wrong at all, but there are some sweet moments on that song. "I will" has a great guitar solo at the end that sounds great. Prince's throwaways sounds 1000 times better than any thing else out there.

That title track is the bomb. It is just dying for a remix.

gr8 idea, but the only major drawback with doing a mix from all these albums is that the sound levels would be ALL OVER THE PLACE, ruining the overall experience.

Just normalize the volume on the tracks before you burn your mix. Most burning programs have this feature, and it will give you a consistant listening experience.

Is anyone going to say "I'm Yours"? I used to hear the beginning of this song on lots of commercials like mattress places, car dealerships, etc. It's a good guitar tune if you ask me.

Yes, "I'm Yours" is critical... A prince guitar mix album without "I'm Yours" is a joke...

What's even more incredible on "I'm Yours" is the bass. And the drums are pretty awesome. I think this song was designed to show off what he could do at age 18. And wow, he tore it up.

"Private Joy" is the closest I've ever heard him sound like Jimi. I just found it funny that he swore (back then) that he never listened or heard of Jimi...and BOOM!..there's the solo. But I understand now why he said that back then.

I don't like that he said it though. Folks think that he didn't start biting off of Jimi untill Purple Rain, which is bullshit. I saw it firsthand live during the Controversy tour, and again, twice on the 1999 tour. For him to even hint at some shit like he didn't listen or even heard of Jimi is/was stupid. He was so heavily rooted in all things Jimi, it wasn't even funny. His playing, his wardrobe, his posturing, etc. And he still is, (Fury/SNL). That's like Usher saying some shit like he never heard of MJ and that he never seen MJ dance. I was NEVER down for P saying that shit. Folks were going to compare him to Jimi regardless of what he said.

Um, he was actually 20. Owen lied about his age. But yeah, he did tear it up!

Tine waits for no-one (Mavis) also has a hair-raising solo by P.. it's power is in how understated he plays it.. his use of space in it.. i really like it a lot smile Oh and once again.. any collction of P's guitar music should include Alexa de Paris.

I'm still waiting for the Prince heavy metal album. I'm saying it could be done, and should be done. I mean just have one entire album, every song with an ear blasting guitar solo. Oh well, one can dream.

I can't stand heavy metal but I would be the first person at Best Buy the morning the cd is released. I know Prince spin on it would be tight. wink
