Prince live at the Roosevelt Hotel 2nite....my review

OK guys, very sorry for those of you who could not get in. big mistake for the PP3 to announce it because I was told right away that I could not tell anyone about it because it was invite only. I figured I owe it to fans to give a report so I actually took messy notes on my blackberry. There was a fan that I met who got on stage to sing "Play That Funky Music White Boy." Forgot his name but he said he is a "Quaker."

First we hung out at Teddy's (VERY VIP ONLY CLUB DOWNSTAIRS) for a while. Around us, Christina Aguilera, Jack Nicholson, Jeremy Piven, Nicole Richie, Salma Hayek, Marilyn Manson, Shannon Elizabeth, Heath Ledger, Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and many many more, most of who proceeded to the "3121" club that was created in the ballroom with full tour stage. Apollonia was hanging in the front but Prince was not paying attention to her (it seemed).

The tracklist (started at 12:30 am and ended 2:13am)

3121
Break the chains
Come together (beatles)

Tamar steps to the foreground
All night long-tamar
Waiting on you-tamar
Do right woman-tamar
Love will make you so happy-tamar
When a man loves a woman-tamar

Prince rolls back out with a new orange stratocaster, with a change of costume (looking like the hot thing outfit from SOTT and a black hat)

Beautiful strange
Red-Headed Stepchild
You Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC song), great girl from crown come sup and sings the hell out of it! beautiful!
Be Happy-(mary j blige song)
Hollaback girl
3121 jam
Rock steady (with tamar)
Don't stop til you get enough (with tamar)

Apollonia jumps on stage and dances next to Prince

What have you done for me lately
Partyman
Play that funky music white boy
Love roller coaster
It ain't over

Encore
Purple Rain
Let's Go crazy

He is still the master!

Wow!

Thanks for the review T17! I can't believe he covered the Beatles! smile Nice cos I've always wondered to the extent of their influence, as he kinda denied it but everyone assumes it due to the psychadelic phase he went through.
And You Shook Me All Night Long - though he didn't sing it, its interesting to see he learnt the song! haha

Whats 3121 like live?

Weird Apollonia was there too!
Its always funny seeing which celebs come out to see Prince...nice to see Jack nicholson is still a P fan!

thanks again! smile

I'm surprised he only sang one song from 3121.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Is that "Break The Chains" from Fleetwood Mac? And it was cool for P to do the AC/DC cover...very cool...

Why only one song from the new album? I wonder if he is waiting to perform them on the tour. But then, that doesn't make sense because Fury and BLB have already been performed live, so why is he not performing those also?

That song by Fleetwood Mac is just called 'Chain'. I don't know what 'Break the Chains' is - the lyrics appear in Emancipation...?

Some weird covers there, though. Hollaback Girl? Surely that must be the Gwen Stefani song?

For a promotion of the album - still not playing the songs, not even Te Amo and Fury!

And Apollonia back on stage with Prince? It gets weirder and weirder...

Damn, celebs are jammy gits!

Thanks for the correction....As far as the covers, it's more of a showcase for Tamar than P...

sounds similar to the Miami show, but with 3121, AC/DC, and Beatles. I'm sure Prince was amazing and so is Tamar.

Yup, it's the one in Hollywood. One of those Hollywood landmarks; I believe they had the first Oscars there, and it's supposed to be haunted, not that I believe in ghosts.

Now that's a good idea for an Prince album, why not release an album of covers!! It's funny that he releases a new album and only sings one song from it.

He does a killer Whole Lotta Love as well. It's funny that he plays covers so much because I've seen him say that he doesn't like it when people cover him lol

PERFECT 4 HIM and I WANNA HEAR THat one. ALSO how about the GOGO'S WE GOT THE BEAT or VACATION and what about HEART'S BARRACUDA or MAGIC MAN? PRINCE had BETTER NOT do them without me WATCHING since I gave him the IDEA. Also, if he ever did CINDY LAUPER'S GIRL'S JUST WANNA HAVE FUN! HAS PRINCE EVER THOUGHT about this BEFORE? I have so many IDEAS I COULD PITCH to him FOREVER.....ZEL is a POWERHOUSE.....ALSO, FUNNIER than FUN he should SPOOF MADONNA'S LIKE A VIRGIN..... If he is into some gREAT MUSIC he could listen to BAUHAUS and some JOY DIVISION and there is just so Much COOL KING CRIMSON and what about SUZANNE VEGa'S LUKA or what about LOU REED or VELVET UNDERGROUND? I wanna hear him Jam stuff. So Much Music out in this WORLD but WHY NOT TRY some AEROSMITH NEXT? biggrin
