What's the story with the song Hello X currently playing in the 3121 room on npgmc.com? What is it from?

It's Hello (Xtended version) it was the b-side to the Pop Life 12 inch.

The lyrics are about a real-life incident when Prince was leaving a restaurant and his bodyguards had to protect him from a photographer trying up-close photos as he was getting into his car. This was the night of the USA For Africa recording of 'We Are The World' and Prince had been expected to go sing a line, but changed his mind. He later arranged to give them a song instead, which was '4 The Tears In Your Eyes' - all this is touched on in the lyrics, which makes it a quite revealing song.

The single-length version can be found on The Hits/The B-Sides as well as '4 The Tears'.

Restaurant was CARLOS AND CHARLIES and was it SUSANNA or WENDY he was with? The PRESS BLEW EVERYTHING OUT OF PROPORTION and MADE it LOOK like he DISSED the EVENT to be SELFISh and PARTY. NOT TRUE at ALL. But that was a MJ and Lionel RITCHIE JOINT. So why is PRINCE singing JACKSO TUNES this JAM? I mean I suppose he is like FORGIVE and FORGET BUT SOME PEOPLE well WHY FORGIVE THEM? It was blown out of proportion. After all, Americans completely ignored Africa's famine plight until Band Aid did their song, they were just jumping on the 'needing-to-be-seen-caring' band-wagon - after all, all those popstars in one room could have just raised millions out of their own vastly wealthy pockets. At least Prince was true to himself - he was already doing food and clothing collections for the poor.

Still, it wasn't MJ or Richie's fault the press had a go at him.
