Diamonds and pearls: Horny pony. I have the original 1st version of diamonds and Pearls.
I went 2 the record store and I saw Diamonds and pearls; The newer blue version. And when I looked at the back of the CD and I saw that on the place where Gett Of! should be there stood horny pony. So what's up with that? [Edited 3/26/06 0:07am] [Edited 3/26/06 0:07am]

There is a song called Horny Pony that was initially on D&P before it was replaced with Get OFF. Personally i think they made an excellent choice...horny pony is inferior....

K I agree that Gett Off is superior and should be on D & P,
But I LOVE horny pony. Its just fun throw away stuff, hell i think on the maxi cass. i listened to that more than i did Gett Off. Then the tape broke. made me The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Yeah, that too - Depends which format. It's on the 7" of Gett Off, and the 7", 12" and CD single of Cream. http://www.housequake.com...adid=16515

Horny Pony came first, which is why it was taken off the album, and replaced by Gett Off -- A sensible decision I'm sure you'll agree. Although Gett Off kind of evolved from earlier tracks - It doesn't share particularly that much with 'Get Off' (from the NPG maxi-single), but it has similarities - Add to that the lyrics 'Glam Slam '91' (which I think is horrible - it sounds like Prince doing Bill Haley & The Comets, filtered through 'Love Machine' ). "Horny Pony" is a weak song...very silly and dumb.I'm glad that it wasn't included on the album."Gett Off" is a stronger, better song.

If you read the back of the cover it features the rap from one of the tracks onthe album - can't remember which track as it is that long since I last listened to D&P - might be "Live 4 Love", might be "Jughead". The rap goes something like this: "It's thunder when I'm on the mic, Daddy Pop is in the house and he's sure to like his diamonds, sure to like his pearls, I'm good to cream every boy and girl, cuz I'm strollin, steady hip-hop rock and rollin', a willing and able horny pony..." etc. Note that the rap lists all of the song titles in the order they are on the album, and on the back of my copy of the CD the song titles are picked out in bold. Where "Gett Off" appears the words "horny pony" are printed in red over the top of "Gett Off" so the words of the rap remain intact... if you see what I mean.
"Horny Pony" was released as a B-side on one of the EPs at the time. It isn't that good.

Gett Off was a last minute addition to the album, and was written after Diamonds
And Pearls had already been finished. At that point Horny Pony was included on the album instead. Horny Pony and Jughead were the 2 lighthearted dance numbers, which is even mentioned in the lyrics - Horny Pony is "New dance commercial; take 1" and Jughead is "New dance commercial; take 2". Gett Off was originally just gonna be a one off limited birthday promo release, but the track got such a good reception that Prince had to include on the album. So he decided to drop Horny Pony from the album to fit Gett Off on.

For some strange reason, the song was also included in the August 2001 NPG Music Club selection (back when they released 3-4 new songs each month) - the MP3 started with a female computerized voice (same as in Family Name) saying "This song is about dancing, and by no means endorses acts of extra-marital sex" before the song kicks in. I've never understood its inclusion, especially if Prince thought the song would be 'misinterpreted'.

the video featured an all-out Caligula-styled orgy and the lyrics seem to back up that theme, methinks not to mention Prince messing with both twins
