Ultimate - What does 'recalled' mean if everyone has one

Sticky an Ultimate thread already.

The Black album was recalled.

With sooo many copies of the Ultimate set shipped and being sold (have you checked ebay last week and this week), how can you call it a recall? Who didn't get one who lives in the NY area? The only stores that people think are 'pulling' them, never received them to begin with.

Show of hands who has it here on this site alone? Not just one or two copies, multiple sets??? This is so silly or another great marketing campaign, pick.

Maybe Rhino is the smartest one. Great way to sell a two cd set. The set looks like a bootleg cd of 'Crucial' and 'Cookie Jar' anyway. Did ya'll purchase those back in tha day like me?

I just think the panic is funny as evillol

Just keep your pants on people.

it means that either WB really did not care if they all got sent back (issuing the recal just to make prince happy) or that it was done too late to be effective.

I wonder if any were actually sent back? The stores that got them, sold them. I talked to four stores that were told to pull them off of the shelves, but they never received them in the first place. Two stores didn't pull them and sold them out. And another store that pulled their copies but did not have to return them, just take them off the shelves until further notice.

Well, there are about 100 copies available for sale at Virgin in Times Square in NYC, so I don't know what's up. It's $31. Folks are tripping if they're selling these on eBay for $50+.
Come here, babe.. yeah...

I just logged on bestbuy.com and it's available online and for pick-up at their stores; it doesn't say sold out anymore. Maybe I'll go today to confirm it.

I paid a shitload on ebay but at that point, we didnt know what the hell was up...and I didnt wanna miss out on getting a collector's item if it indeed wasn't officially released or re-released later with different trax or whatnot. Now it's looking like that's not the case but sometimes you wanna take a gamble on that kinda thing.

BestBuy.com has the title as Ultimate Prince [Remaster] [TBA].

They also have the status listed as Backordered.

sad

Oh, and ALL the stores near me sent their copies back. Either that, or they never got them to begin with. Guess the "Major" cities are the ones making the $$$.

On bestbuy.com, when you go to select instore pickup, it says UNAVAILABLE at any store you select. The Best Buy stores in my area actually had them but shipped them back. This release seems to be cancelled for real - it's just take time to remove all of the pre-existing web pages, etc. off after such wide distribution was planned before the very-last-minute cancellation.

I went into three Best buy stores today and they never even received the cd set. Never got them, didn't pull them, didn't send anything back, etc. He did tell me to check back on this Tuesday (the 28th). We actually went on the stores computer and saw NO, '0' inventory.

Nothing was recalled. On 3/14, no cds ever arrived. At Coconuts, NOTHING ever arrived.

Which, of course, would explain why someone (and his doggie) on this very forum found a bunch at Best Buy. Perhaps the Best Buy employees are feeding you the party line?

I noticed that sometime after midnight, early Sunday morning (3/26), BestBuy.com said all the stores in my area (Lexington, KY) had it for pickup. So I added it to my cart, selected in-store pickup, and placed the order. Then went to bed. The order status email said the store would send a confirmation email within an hour or so of store opening, after they checked stock and reserved the item.

Later that morning, I got an email saying it wasn't at the store. But the order (as far as I can tell) still hasn't been cancelled.

So...I dunno. On Bestbuy.com, it's gone from "sold out," to "backordered" and not available for pickup, to available for pickup but not really. smile Maybe that could be considered progress.

Yeah, the BB computer I looked at showed stores were actually selling what they didn't have. One store had -3, one had -2 in inventory. Must have been online sales.
