This time next week the big topic will be....

3121 and how far it dropped. I hope u are all prepared for the drop, because its going to happen, it obvious will be more for an artist like Prince whos following is a loyal "get the cd first day" type of crowd. So dont expect it to be in the top 5 or even maybe the top 10 next week. But really who cares, what will a big drop show?? It always amazes me how much focus there is on the "numbers" in this era, or as i call it "the ME era". This is the era that churns out one hit wonders at an alarming rate, its like an assembly line, and dont tell me it was always like this because thats just bullshit plain and simple. If u feel that the industry is the same as ever than U are really liiving in the darkness, PAYOLA is now a legal thing to do, labels buy there air time and video time, mainly because they own the stations.

So how does this affect 3121, really not at all, to me its just good to see fan loyality to an artist and to see Prince's name still around after 25+ years, if U think anyone from today will do that, once again u are living in a fantasy.

well,we all know it's going to drop next week, but that's okay.We don't have to be focused on the chart numbers anyway...there's a tour to look forward to! Let the lame rappers and teen acts have their fun on the charts...we have better things to get excited about.

Being number one is it's own promotion. Simply because of that, it has been mentioned on websites and media where otherwise it would not have, it occupies a prominent place on the racks in CD stores, and that alone may encourage more people to be aware of the album and buy it.

Saying that, probably it will drop a bit, but perhaps not as much as people expect - is anyone keeping an eye on mid-week sales figures?

Musicology sold 191,000 in it's first week via non-giveaways, and went onto sell just under a million, so another 800,000 continued to buy it after the first week.

At the end of the day, being number one is important because it goes into the record books, nobody will remember it was only for a week 20 years into the future! Musically, to fans, it doesn't matter whether Prince is #1, but being number one is a bit like winning an award, and we are all pleased when we win awards, nothing wrong in that.
