I have seen some serously devoted people here stateing every chance they get that they "love prince", and this leads me to wonder something.

What is this "LOVE" you have for Prince? Can you discribe it? Does it come in purple or just black and white?

Isn't this "LOVE" you "have" for the man just love you turn away from your self?

Really I want a full discription.

I love Prince but obviously it is not the same kind of love I have for my family,my children,my friends and so on.
10 things that make me love Prince:
1.His music
2.His showmanship
3.His innovation
4.The fact that he's been the soundtrack to my life since I was 12
5.His eccentricity
6.His intelligence
7.His uniqueness
8.His musical genius
9.His style
10.The fact that he makes me love him

I,m not so deluded that I think that this is a real love rather a level of besottedness! Maybe it is because something is missing in my life,but wheres the harm in that?!

I started my I Love Prince thread when I was bored at work and also very ill.

I was also trying to be a more positive person. I just wanted to put something a little light and happy on the org. As far as my "love" of Prince I would say that I must agree with and jump on skipper's bandwagon of 10 reasons. Prince, like Stephen King has been a "part" of my life since a very early age. I can remember and associate certain times and experiences in my life with the words of SK and the music of P.

Now on the real (even though I have met him and been around him) I don't KNOW the brother from a rock. But if that changes and I actually spend quality time with the fella, I'll let you know if that love grows,fades or stays the same....don't hold your breath

Well, I can see your point. My wording choice there could have been a little better, but that was only one of several conditions and it was generalized.

I like to ask generalized questions that leave a wide choice of inturpetations because if answered, it gives much more of an answer about the person then just their conscious choice of words to answer the question.

I would tend to disagree with him there however. This is all I have in life, one's perspective view of what it is to be alive and to be within a society where the distance between each person is mesured in something more then feet.

When I am angry I dont get out a rap tape to hear about some rappers getting shot and wanting to get even I pull out lovesexy and listen to ANNA stesia Glam slam i No and Positivity which cheers me up unlike some rappers wanting to get even with another.When I am sad I get out ATWIAD or Purple Rain to hear the crazy lyrics and guitar. When I am depressed about love i get out emancipation and listen to the whole first cd.
If I have nothin else to do I get out symbol, rave, diamonds, and come
If I wanna dance or need some music to excercise to I get out Batman.
If I need inspiration 2 write my own music I get out Musicology or now 3121
Prince music makes question his sexuality, his father, his personality (prince), why he sings what sings, how to play it and just feel comforted to know that prince makes good music you can listen to anytime
Finally prince and me are practically the same person cause we do everything the same
i.e. we both write, compose, produce, etc. music music is our lives
we both meet women the same way mysterious staring at them for long periods od time or having a friend get they phone number
we both have split personalities we have a dark and mysterios side and then we a light side who is frineds with every body and loves to play silly games
we both have a sensitive and romantic man who buys flowers and chocolate and writes poems to our girlfriends calling them up at three o clock in the morning to ask how they're doing
we both can drop a track a day
we both were abuse as children
we both play about 20 instruments
we both have ran away from home to move in with our friends (exception becuase I came back)
we both had fighting parents
both our fathers were musicians
we both are teased about our height
we both love basketball
and whatever else is left

trust me if me and prince were gay we would probably be married if it was legal

it's a silly game, you wouldn't understand it unless you're in it. but prince is love, or inspiration, i know this is a worn-out way to express it, but as a human being...prince does things to ya mind like nothing else in the world. Prince is always there for me nomatter how or what i'm feeling. He's not just a sexy erotic or entertaining figure, he has a higher value to me and my life, it's really priceless. and i'm not religious, okay?

i feel less alone maybe, like i could listen to the radio (sign of the times was sung by another person, a lady) and a very old song comes on and prince may have used that music in his material. prince is music, all in one. He deserves upmost respect, and other people may think i'm crazy because he's so much fun. it's a learning experience, i gain from his art.

I love your post, mainly about being drawn to the works of Prince and Stephen King. I posted a while back here about the similaries of the two, mainly their work ethic and overlooked sense of humor. I once asked the moderator of Stephen King's message board what SK thinks of Prince, and the answer I got was "Stephen is mainly into rock and probably doesn't listen to Prince", which is a funny statement to make. If I'm not mistaken, SK mentions Sign of the Times in his novel "It" (and as we all know, there's a song called "It" on Sign of the Times, but I'm reaching here).

Ok, back to the question at hand, it's a fair question. I don't "love" Prince. I don't even know the guy. However, I do love what he does. I find his love of music, God, showmanship and marketing to be thrilling, inspiring, and at times frustrating. I couldn't ask for more from an artist.

I probably could make him Happy in MANY WAYS. That's all I WANT REALLY....His Happiness and his PLEASURE.....
