I'm sick of all of y'all that whine and moan over "the old Prince sound", how he copies the Neptunes/James Brown/Hendrix/et.al. 3121 has been out for three days and all y'all can do is pick it apart. Everything the man does is placed under a microscope and analyzed. If he pleases group A then he pisses off group B. Y'all don't even act like real fans. Why are you here? Then, you pick on his religious beliefs. That's personal and not for you or anybody else to judge. Someone said that The Word sounds like him singing about other people's experiences and not his own. How the hell do you know what he has gone through in his life?. Were you there? If you don't like his music, or it doesn't meet your high standards, don't blame the Jehovah Witnesses...they don't write the lyrics or compose the music...Prince does. And how the hell can he copy Pharell when Pharrell copies him? Is it a crime for him to revert back to the old sound that y'all claim to love and long for so much? Get over it! It's not 1984 anymore. The man is not 26, and he doesn't wear purple. This is supposed to be a site for fans but from what I can see, I feel I'm in the wrong place.

The beauty of music is that there is no 'right' answer or 'right' taste. Prince has always managed to divide fans and critics alike, it's a part of what makes him great. You'll find plenty of Prince fans that found Sign o the Times or When Doves Cry so so songs and yet loved Live 4 Love or something like that....enjoy the discussions...don't worry be happy! My personal opinion about 3121 is

everybody got their opinion offcourse, but i have 2 agree with the first post though: prince has always been good even when it was a bit lost...
some people just got stuck in that 80's shit and don't want 2 hear the similarities in the songs back then and now
when i listened to DMSR live 2005 version i heard a TRC sound and the song seemed as strong as 1+1+1=3,
so the sound might differ over the years, he's been doin practictly the same thing 2 me over the years, serving us lots of funk, pop, jazz, soul, ...

i said it before: i think the most fans hating on prince everscince SOTT (what a great but fragmented album! not his best at all!) don't like funk or something. now i'm not saying i'm right and like what u like but when u love funk u must love prince whatever era, i think...

i'm not hating on ATWIAD, Lovesexy, Prince, C&D, either just because i don't like those albums that much... would be a waste of time.

i noticed the're favorites of many other people ova here and that makes me happy, that makes prince even greater 2 me being able 2 serve a wide audience

That's what happens when someone is as diverse as he is. He may be extremely diverse but not everyone else in the world is.



We're acting like individuals with our own tastes and our own minds. If Prince makes a particular song or album we don't care for, we express it. We also express it when he makes something we do like. It's called being your own person and not a purple ass kisser.




Here we go with that again. Anyone that critizes anything about Prince is accused of wanting another "Purple Rain".
