I check it out every now and then to see what's new out there. It's a lot like TRL hip hop style. Can't stand TRL 'cause the host is weenie.

no hatin' here.

with all due respect, I'm glad he didn't go on that show. He would have been out of place. Nothing bad about him, just it's not a show for real musicians making real music.

I see where you can say the show is below his royalness, but isn't this part of the population he's mandated to teach "real music with musicians" is the way.

Get on the bus people.

I didn't say the show was below his royalness. I said this wasn't the best show for him to go on. the show is people doing group dancing, screaming with delight at videos of rappers driving around in blinged out cars and hosts talking without saying anything. None of that has anything to do with real musicians making real music, as Prince (and other artists) do.

Understood

But when prince talks about getting people into real musicianship
He's not talking to us - we're here
He's not talking to alt fans - green day, white stripes etc play
Country music bands play (yuck)

He's talking about inner city kids like these kids. I don't like the themes of most of the videos on the show.I have a kid and wouldn't want her doin' that shit.
But if multi millionaire man of faith and you've the patience you go on TRL and BET. Damn he should be bringing guitars, saxaphones, keyboards and handing them out.

Rev, I like how you express your feelings. Look at this way..maybe Prince wanted to go on the show, but the show's producers didn't think he'd fit in. Now wouldn't that be a shame? you're right about the other artists btw..

You purple koolaid drinking mother funkers need to get off the boat for a second and respect these words I'm going to bless you with...

Ya'll need to recognize that hip hop and RnB music (the two genres this show often plays videos of) are created by real living musicians... some of the music is created on synthesizers and drum machines - things Prince used to be good with and shows here and there that he's still good with.

The kids watching the show are just that - KIDS!! They're on TV and they're young!! Let them wild out... what's it to you? Remember Prince? Yeah, he used to where underwear, stockings, high boots and a trench coat on stage - he used to wild out as well. KIDS will be KIDS!! They're full of energy and what's a more constructive way then having fun, dancing and singing and cheering while they're on TV?!?!?!?!?

You fools need to stop hating without having a good reason...

Prince is great but remember that his music used to preach understanding difference and respecting others - why don't ya'll try to do the same?

Pathetic

Good news!
I can tape it this time. I have to take a good look at this clip, because I thought the performance of Fury was a little rough around the edges. And all I see on the org is people saying how cool it was.
I'm kind of done with head wrap thing too.

That SNL was real boring.

i dunno which is funnier: your rant, or your failed attempt at a softened "disclaimer" before said rant and expecting folks to take heed to that shit. neutral

Prince is better off by not going on this show. I've never been a big fan of 106. But I did like AJ and Free. Now that they're gone, forget it! The only way Prince could make this work is if he brought in his guitar and gave them all an impromptu lesson on musicianship.

Because it basically about rap stars and rap music. Since we are Prince fans, it will most likely never appeal to us. neutral

jay, you only missed the moon by a mile. The kids on 106 are having a good time. God Bless them for that. And the dance competition. The point being made (which sailed completely over your head) was that this show was not a good forum for Prince and his music. Just like TRL wouldn't be a good show for a group like YES, or some other musically technical group to appear on. It's like serving a 25 year old scotch to a convention of milk farmers, or a fancy french dinner to a group of McDee's fans. The fine taste buds haven't developed yet. I'm sure there are some teens who "get" Prince. Most don't. That's all. Now, study again and you can take a makeup test on Monday. Class dismissed

That's not true.

106 Park is full of intellectual artist, like...

Talib Kweli
Common
Outkast etc.

You're probally are some old guy (with all due respect) that doesn't know ish about hip hop and thinks all rap is like Prince's rap.

I thought rap was created by Reynolds.

Actually I hit the nail on the head...

I agree with you in that Prince being on 106th and Park may not be such a great idea but there's a lot of love for him in a lot of unsuspecting places...

One thing I did want to mention though and I did is that people think the music their is crappy or not made by 'real musicians'. That sort of talk needs to chill because any music is made by a musician whether or not he's using a guitar or a synth or live drums or drum machines...

if you listen to a lot of the hip hop and RnB on that show, the music is outrageously great... not much for some of the vocals though. There are some seriously underrated musicians in the hip hop and Rnb world...

Prince fans... or many of the orgers tend to overlook this or fail to acknowledge this because they're too busy sniffing Prince's asshole.
