"Love"

Without question my favorite track on 3121 - a throwback to the 0ne-man-band, mad scientist, Prince-alone-in his-basement, 1999/SOTT, funky, sick, psycadelic, layered, thick, twisted, uplifting, positive tune. The kind of track that makes me break out in gooseflesh when I hear it and reach for the rewind button when it's over.

An anthem.

They are both top tier Prince songs, of any era.

'love' is my current favorite. i'm betting that'll change throughout the summer...unless he's planning on doing a kick-ass live version of 'love' on tour, in which case i'll just be all the more into it. but that's cool...it's been a while since i've had a full-on prince anthem to drive everyone i know nuts with.

I already raved quite a bit about "Love" in the main 3121 thread... but damn I've got more to say.

It's just one awesome surprise after another. Even after listening to it over a dozen times (and that's only so low because I wanted to be fair to the other tracks occasionally), I still drop whatever I'm holding when those girls come in at the end telling you to shake it and bust it.

He's done messages like this before (all of Lovesexy and GB), he's done sick funk like this before (Lady Cab Driver, Erotic City, Sex), he's even attempted anthemic techno a few times, but this is, like, the statement. He got it right.

What a badass, badass song. I agree with Revolution that "The Word" might be the best Prince song on the album (I actually think "The Word" beats almost every song on The Gold Experience), but "Love" is probably my favorite.

Sorry, gotta say its the worst track on the album for me...

"Love" is definately the funkiest jam Prince has done in years. I absolutely love this jam. It's kind of like "old Prince" enters the new millineum.

Prince really outdid himself on this cut. I love everything about it from the "like a bird flying over the hilltops" parts to the funky ass breakdown towards the end. There's nothing better than a song that's a good asshaker and this jam has shook my ass nonstop since I bought it yesterday.

I simply Love 'Love'. The Best Track!

the end of 'love' reminds me of 'love 2 the 9s'...it's so cheesy and fun, and it doesn't apologize for how deliriously dumb it is. LOVE THAT.
