I was either 9 or 10 when I really became a fan, through the song "1999." I clandestinely gave my brother five weeks' worth of allowance to buy me the tape and the rest is history.

I've been a "fan" since mid 83 when "Little Red Corvette" got lots of radio play, and then "1999" (the song) jumped up on the charts again. When I actually saw him on MTV, there was something otherworldly about him that greatly intrigued me. I asked for the album for Christmas and got it! I loved it. I totally wore that tape out, literally -- it broke and I had to splice it together again. I loved it so much that I bought the double-record also. I was only 13, and I'd never heard anything like it before in my life. I ate, drank, and slept that album. It went with me everywhere. I remember laughing when I read a review that said Prince's new album "Purple Rain" would be more successful. "How could he top 1999?" Well... we all know what happened.

I've been a fan since the 1999 album. My first recollection was when he was on Solid gold doing Little Red Corvette. I used to kiss the T.V. set when he was on. My first concert was Purple Rain I went to see 7 shows. He's always been my favorite.

I'm 19 and Wow I feel bad by saying this but I became a fan only early last year '2001' after I bought 'Rave' (yeah sue me!) LOL I was captured by the 'cover' not some song or some video. Altho I loved 1999(The new master) this the 1st time I hear 1999, TMBGITW was DOPE, 7 and money don't matta 2night. My sistah is a HUGE FAN of him, she took me to his concert over here in NYC in 1988, I was only 6 and when I saw the show I was like 'What in the hell???' I don't get him at all. After that when my momma found out, she SPANKED my sistah big time 4 taking a 6 yrs ol' child 2 some Rock n' Roll concert. Anyway, I took a listen to Rave and I was like hey thats some PHAT shit(Silly game-ManOwar are my favorite in this piece) after that I bought 'The hits/b-sides', 'Sympol' 'The gold experience' and 'PR' and I WAS HOOKED LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER!! so you know what happend next !

1980. Since then, there have been quite a few dry spells, though.
