After The Dance... what other TCI/High-era tracks deserve a re-recording or just a higher profile?

I've always loved Judas Smile and When I Lay My Hand On U - I always thought these deserved a higher profile than they got, tucked away as hidden gems for the hardcore fans only.

And perhaps some of the others could benefit from a whole new sound, like The Dance has.

U?

You know I was actually excited when I heard that The Dance was going to be on 3121 because I loved the original and I felt like it would have been a hit if it was released at the time that it was done. I'm not disappointed by what he's done with it either. I like it more than the original and I didn't know if that could happen.

As for other songs, I wish the world could hear Vavoom. That song kicks my ass and it would be big if it was on a major album. Also, believe it or not, Sex Me Sex Me Not. I really like that song, espeicially the last couple of minutes. When I Lay My Hands On U should also be heard in a bigger way too.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I agree 100% - Judas Kiss and WILMHOU were by far the two stand out tracks of the NPGMC year one era.

And When We Will Be Paid too, I always liked that one.

They fit like a glove in NPS (a great album imo!)

I'd give my left nut to see him play 'When Eye Lay My Hands On U' live. Imagine this with the TRC sound/production... drool

In my opinion, the world needs to hear "Empty Room".

It has to hear 'In a large room with no light' too, but this was about TCI/High-era tracks!

You know, I wondered why people have mentioned Peace - man, that song annoys me - but then I started hearing this slow, ONA-style piano and falsetto version in my head, using the same lyrics but as an entirely-different song. Avalanche part 2. That could be pretty cool.

for you SuperSpaceBoy.bootleg version /w rap. but as far as the "official" release i'd rework the hook "so as not to offend or unnerve". lol

So you'd get rid of the dirty girl sex part...is that offensive? It's the hook that makes the song I think.

i think it's 50/50.

some prince songs are better reworked ."still would stand all time"(the graffiti bridge one comes to mind) and you got some songs that should be left alone, warts and all ("old friends 4 sale".now THAT song didn't need touching up.)

just my opinion is all wink
