IS AMERICA DYING?

Many P-orgers say that they don't understand what french or spanish (or else) artists sing. Don't worry: many of the world's fams don't undersatnd any word of the US or UK Pop stars too!!!
This example is to show you the vanity of americans. But after September 11, ENRON and Worldcom, and propbably unpredictible worries for the so proud and so-called democratic americans, has America reached a point of no return, a decadence? Just like the antic Roma? Catholics and sects, porn industry and schild exploitation, black and latino stars and deep racism (against arabs, IE)? Are you really what you pretend to be? I suppose NOT. That's why Prince seems to prefer France, Spain and Canada…

America is young and fresh! So America appears to me. Energetic. No, no, I don't think America is dying... dynamic is change. Maybe America is changing.

He's American. I'm sure he's just as ethnocentric as anyone, and has a preference for American land...Minnesota.

It's inevitible that there will at some point be a decline in America. It'll probably have to do with how "vain" and materialistic we are. Read up about the Romans, for instance. Perhaps one day we'll follow suit. The average American family with one college graduate makes 70k a year. We are "rich." We haven't declined yet.

But from a history repeating itself standpoint, we will eventually smile

And PLENTY of people understand American pop stars. Unfortunately. I speak to people from all sorts of places. My friend in Brazil told me he learned English from listening to our music, because he preferred it. He then took a class...

It has reached a scary point. America has had chances to educate the young, it has had the most oppritunity per person of any country that ever existed, unfortuantly all of that has been given up to large corporations and fat white men. America isn't fresh and vital, it's uneducated, unhealthy, addicted, armed and scared. It's not a happy situation, and it's going to get worse if we all keep being arrogant and surrendering our souls to the corporate fascist regime.

But it's not like we've reached the end of the world. It will continue rotting in it's own decadence for a long time coming. Quite frankly, you would think that we would figure this out, but no, no, no. We just continue getting fatter, lazier, more racist, more fascist, more classist and dumber. Our government continues pushing all of these mentalities on us, and we buy into them. We are no longer controlled by people, we are controlled by the media.

And Corner man smells funny.

Just a thought.

I think we have a corporate culture in this country that hasn't been adequately showcased and exposed. Worldcom, Enron, Global Crossing, etc. aren't unique -- this is the corporate culture.

Corporate America is pretty much a trap, with a glass ceiling, with a new form of slavery. I know that's harsh, but 40hr weeks, now going to 50, longer work days, less money, and the creme of the crop stays at the top doing whatever they want. I believe in hard work, trust me, but it's always their way, with no leeway for you. Throwing down this rule and that regulation and binding one's life. What about one's family? His/her mate? What about spending quality time worshiping God or with family members, community, etc?? Corporate America wants your life. Then people wonder why the divorce rate is so high. They can't spend quality time together.

Sure you get the moral code in the beginning, how the company values integrity, loyalty, blah blah. Eventually their true colors will show -- it's all about the money -- you're dirt. Of course, there's always hope with bosses and employees with character, but from my experience, it's gone to hell in a handbasket. America is working itself to death, though this is why we're number 1 economy and powerhouse. But what are the costs? Broken marriages, broken individuals, depression. Do you know how many people suffer from some form of depression/anxiety with their jobs? It's cutting away our life spans. I'd rather make $20,000 painting homes or manual labor with peace of mind and healthy environment than a $50,000 job with constant worries, constant stress, and nonstop running around. Then we wonder why everybody hitting the bars after work, drowning themselves in booze.

Make no mistake, it's a trap. You can be the greatest employee ever, do everything right, but if management doesn't like you, or you don't cop favors (sexual or otherwise), you're going nowhere. Office politics is hell -- pure and simple. If they were no laws, people would be going postal left and right. If you have a boss with character, values, and integrity consider yourself blessed and very fortunate. That would be awesome, but, again, from my experience and others, it's not been the case.

Time for a revolution.

Not to mention the fact that the income gap is growing due to capital flight and thus unskilled labour, which held the middle class afloat, has become practically non-existant. I wonder if it will ever reach the point of blood revolution again...

We in America need to be especially vigilant right now. We are in a position where, if we are not careful, we could wind up with a dictatorship. Don't believe me? Just look at the frenzy Bush has whipped the country into post 9-11. Talk of closed borders, unexplained searches, secret war tribunals, etc has me questioning whether or not we are going to surrender our civil liberties.

It is a fact that most totalitarian regimes arose from previously democratic countries. Bush smiles, putting on his heroic face, but what are his motivations? If you don't question them, if you blindly follow ANY leader, then you are not doing your duty as an American. Many people think it's patriotic to follow the government, going along with whatever our leaders say. That couldn't be further from the truth! America was built on the principle that the leaders would follow the people, not the other way around. I'm well aware that the USA has often said one thing, then done another, but that doesn't mean that we should allow it to continue. Let's put our money where our mouth is. let's become the country that we claim to be! THAT is what being patriotic truly is. I love my country, and the ideals that it espouses. It's my government that I fear.

That would NEVER fly. Why? This country goes by the Constitution and the Constitution is the final word. The Constitution clearly states that the U.S.A. is a democracy, if it ever ceases 2 b, it shall not be U.S.A., it'll be...somethin' else!

Don't believe me? Just look at the frenzy Bush has whipped the country into

Did Bush do it? Or did terrorists do it? I beg ta differ. wink

Talk of closed borders, unexplained searches, secret war tribunals, etc has me questioning whether or not we are going to surrender our civil liberties.

It's all about SECURITY. Ever heard of Korematsu vs. the United States? In that Supreme Court Decision a Japanese man's rights were violated by the government but the court felt that his presence COULD pose a threat so indeed he was moved 2 an internment camp, which IS awful. But the court felt his presence COULD pose a threat. They had absolutely no evidence against him, other than the fact he was Japanese and so happened 2 b the Nazis.
Right or wrong, that was the decision, 4 the following reason...

If there is even a small threat 2 national security then the welfare of the majority will go b4 a person's civil liberties.

We r also at war, altho' not declared officially. The Constitution ALSO states that in times of war, the President takes on greater power, and rightly so.

So u want 2 change the Constituton? is that what ur saying? Highly unlikely.
