3121 - final thoughts The other thread is getting far too long. Anyway. 3121. I think the second half (Satisfied onwards) is much stronger than the earlier part of the album, and is a lot more consistent.
Despite what other people may say, I can't listen to this album all the way through. Black Sweat, Incense and Candles and Love are, in my opinion, Prince trying to be hip and 'with it' but none of them work properly. And why on Earth is he rapping again. TAC has definitely grown on me, I now think it's a great song. BLB is good up until the bit where Tamar starts rapping (again, why? Neither of them can pull it off!). I'm really loving The Dance and Get On The Boat. Some great musicianship on these two songs. Love had the potential to a great song, there are some great melodies on the vocals, but I think it's a bit over produced with too many synths. A more stripped down version would have been much better. I think this one will work great live (along with Lolita). As for Fury, I was initially a bit disappointed in comparison to the SNL performance but now I quite like the studio version. The chords are a lot grander and it sounds cool. So there you go. I'm not sure what I think about it in comparison to Musicology, yet. For now, it's on a par but if I had to choose I'll probably go with 3121. But, elements of this album just make me think that at this stage of his career he is capable of so much more.

3121 is basically a b-side to musicology as a whole.
Fury is the only song I would rate over 7/10

I like that part. Hard to really tell if she has the rap skillz but it seems so. Was wondering if they were going to do a bit of the Lauren Hill thing on her CD. That might be a good thing. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify
