if Prince debuts at number 1, i will not be shocked. i won't expect him to be there becuz of the quality of the album nor that the album has sold a lot. i never expect Prince to sell a lot of albums in this day and age.

i think it's just that the traditional chart make up is not what it used to be. i believe traditional sales are down all over.

i think it will debut high, but i hope it doesnt totally die in the second week. that would be kind of sad...

sometimes, you never know,, that mary j blige album wont die and her last album tanked.. who knows...

I started a thread saying it was Top5, number 4...ain't bad. I mean, theres the x factor albums out today in 1 and 2, so to get to 4 ain't too shabby really.

if it went to 1 in the US that would be great, I hope its current absence from iTunes don't affect it too badly!

It's really difficult to gage what the interest level is for the casual fan or non-fan, but I post on a non-prince message board and people have been talking about the the 3121 album. Someone started a thread on Sunday asking who was going to purchase album and to my surprise, there were quite a few people that said that they were.

Prince hasn't been number one in a looooong long time. It's exciting, let the fans enjoy it. Especially younger fans who don't remember him being commercially successful.

A number one album is a number one album...

folks are forgetting that he doesn't really need a huge # from the "average Joe on the street" to hit #1. These days, sales of 150k gives you a good shot at the top, and Prince can score that on die-hard and casual fans alone.

I think given the competition that a #1 debut in the US is fairly likely.

In Australia, every P album would do really well for the 1st two weeks because of his enormously loyal fan following, and then fairly quickly vanish to the depths of the lower 50. (This is back when I knew anything about charts in Australia)

It's been increasing in sales slightly over the last few weeks, and should do around 130-140,000 next week. If 3121 falls a little short of expectations, he may have to settle for #2.

Again, i think he has a great shot at the top next week, but even number two is amazing when you consider just 5 years ago when he couldn't even crack the top 100 anymore.
