Man The Dance kicks serious ass. I want to hear this bad boy live. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Man, I don't understand. That's the song I wanna skip over on there! I guess I'll give it another chance next time. I LOVE the rest of the album!

Kinda reminds me of The Beautiful Ones for some reason...

the new version is vastly superior. real instruments, thick sounds, very deep. the original has that plastic feel to it like most of emancipation and newpower soul. this version is killer, by far. THe original version on Chocolate Invasion seems more like a bare naked demo of the song, THe 3121 version is much more full and stronger sounding I like them both, but Im leaning towards the 3121 version big time. Stand Up! Everybody, this is your life!

Hands down 3121 version that song just blows the Chocolate Invasions albums one away. and that scream at the end is like OMG wherein the hell has that scream been for all these years.I'm actually listening to the Dance 3121 version at this moment. [Edited 3/21/06 22:59pm] In the beginning God Made The sea, But on the 7th day he made me. Well prince On the 11th day he made me now wat LOL

'atta boy. got them ol' feelings coming back. I have to agree the dance is my favorite track on the album. I've never heard the TCI version and it really doesn't matter because The Dance as is, speaks to me like no ballad since "I Hate U. It's bumping in my headphones as I type this. @#!!@ Masterpiece - Cause X says so!! Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

All the screaming he does on this makes it for me.
Beggin'& Screamin' (hey that can be a song one day) is all I need to be won over. " a newborn child knows nothing of destruction, nothing of love & hate"

WTF??? I don't get it...
The CD is BUMPIN'...and you guys are talking about this song? TAC is better, and that is a weak P song. By far, the weakest song on the CD. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I was just about to start a thread on this song
I love both versions, amazing how different they can be really. HOWEVER, few people seem to be wondering, why, for the FIRST TIME EVER, Prince has released THE SAME SONG on two different albums! I think thats right, right? Ok, one was reworked, but whats going on here? Why do it? He has enough songs and he could write a similar yet different song to fill that 'spot' on 3121. Personally I'm wondering if he reworked it around 2004, then put the original version he'd just changed it from, onto the Chocolate Invasion, and then put the reworked version onto 3121, if that makes sense. So he thought 'god, the new version is good, but so is the old one, i'll whack it on Choc Inv.' But what does it do for the theme of 3121, does it change it? If there is indeed a story along to the songs of 3121 then surely the fact he specifically reworked a supposed 1996 outtake for this album has some significance? Anyone got any ideas?

Am I the only one who thinks the chorus is a rip off from So Strong? .

So some of us now paid twice for this song? The Invasion version is better but the ending on the 3121 version is nice as well.

I do too, but I don't know how I feel about the 3121 version yet. I'm very attached to the Chocolate Invasion version, so when this one started last night I was all WTF?? But then the screaming started and I was all !!!pwn3d 2 the 9s!!! n shit. Final verdict isn't in yet for me. Co-sign. I love the new version but I love The Chocolate Invasion version. I need more time to work out which one I like best.

One thing I miss about the TCI version is the vulnerability. Not only are the instruments stripped down, the vocal is different and more vulnerable. It's what owned me the first time I listened to the Chocolate Invasion tracks. The Normal Whores Club

The Dance is one of the best on there. It's classic with him pleading and the screaming at the end brings back the Prince of old somehwat.
I hope he performs it on his tour this summer.
