3121 and the charts...get ready

Ok before everyone starts posting about where its gonna debut lets get that all out of the way. 3121 will debut very high, possibly number 1 based on the very "blaek" numbers on the charts right now and the releases this week. Also lets remember that soundscan is based on sales to Record stores not the customers. So if stores ordered it high expect a big debut, if they didnt and sell out and have to reorder those numbers wont take affect till the next chart. With that known, we know how it goes, U debut high and then U fall. Based on Princes loyal fan base the first week will be the peak and then instant drop, so expect it, u might see the record go from number 1 to number 10 instantly or more. Also dont expect to see a "single" pull this album either, I love the album, but based on Radio right now, no way he will get play. RB radio may go with Satisfied, they may try Lolita at Pop/Top 40 but i dont see radio jumping on it, Video stations are the only chance and appearances this is the only may an older artist can sell their records and get the word out.

I thought that soundscan based record sales on the CD's that are scanned at the register when you purchase it. I don't think that they base it on the amount of CD's ordered. Either way I think that he should be #1 or at least in the top 3.

After the success of Musicology and the tour, 3121 should do very well in its first week; I won't be surprised if it debuts at #1-- I'd be more surprised if it didn't.

It'll debut at Number One with no problem. But,what else is being released tomorrow? Let's hope that Prince won't have to compete with some "hot" rapper,or a lame teen act.

That's what I'm hoping. Prince should debut at number 1. He deserves it and it's long overdue. I hope prayers get answered.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

There arent many releases this week, I dont remember seeing anything in the way of the "flava of the Month" release coming tomorrow. The Veterans CHICAGO return with "XXX" which is a really good album and also Shanice is out too, which also a good CD, but dont expect large debuts from either, Chicago most likely will place in the Top 40 and Shanice the Top 100. And neither of those releases will take away from 3121. As for Soundscan, its not based on Consumer sales through the register, its based on reporting from record stores on orders and reorders. So soundscan is not really that accurate, its just the best system billboard has right now.
