You know, I'm really tired of hearing how Howard Stern is a Prince fan and supporter. I just heard that he is scanning through the album on air and trashing every single track.. SORRY I JUMPED THE GUN. THE PERSON WHO TOLD ME THIS WAS LYING.Why do people value his opinion? His audience is like a cult, people who do not and will not think for themselves. What Howard says is Gospel to them. This man is really out of control. He's like the male Caucasian Oprah; only much more negative and much more detrimental.

But keep in mind he DID actually do this for the single "Black Sweat".

I believe a huge segment of his audience wouldn't listen to a Prince record. Stern is hardly a model act to look up to, he feeds off the cluelessness of his audience (some, or most of them) and knows how to rouse their ire on certain issues. Prince, we all know, takes mre than a casual listen to assess accurately. Anything off-the-cuff is negligible. I listened to BS, Fury and the Tamar song mny times before deciding that they were pedestrian romps. The rest of the album i find to be a huge leap from the sterile boredom of Musicology.

Also you're right he does have a right to review and say whatever he wants about "Black Sweat". But I think it would have been pretty F'd up if was doing what one of his "Fans" LIED TO ME and told me he was doing. Playing a minute of each song and ripping each track to shreds would be totally uncalled for and wrong. Howard had a right to say what he did upon first listening to "Black Sweat", but to go through an entire album...knowing you have a following that basically just agrees with whatever you say; that would be just down right malicious. I think the reaction would be no different than what Oprah did to the Beef industry.

Wow, it's interesting to me that a person could be a fan of Howard Stern AND Prince. Howard Stern is very negative about everything in my opinion a racist. Prince although not perfect, at least tries to better himself and for the most part sings about love and acceptance.

I got Sirius because comercial radio is full of s@*t. Sirius offers SO much music, and 3 NPR stations, and Pac-10 Basketball, and the NCAA tournament, and NFL Football, etc. Howard is simply the icing on the cake. His take on celebrity is TRULY refreshing. He calls bulls$@t on people who take themselves to seriously. And his film was really good.

I think this whole post is ridiculous. Folks talking about Howard that don't really understand what his show is all about. To echo what others have said - Howard has always done nothing but praise Prince. He didn't like Black Sweat and said so. Big deal. Howard is not going to "absorb" 3121 , so it won't be much more than a passing interest or opinion.

I like Howard...And I LOVE Prince (standing in line for tix/new albums, waiting at the Park in the FREEZING MPLS winter, treks from Chicago to Glam Slam 2 see 30 minutes of guitar magic, etc...), but I think Black Sweat is pedestrian.

I still consider myself a fan, though...

Stern can be funny at times...he goes after everybody...As far as this business of him being a Prince fan, that's a bit of a misconception..He's more of a Purple Rain fan...Stern likes Prince's rock n roll side more than his funk/R&B influences (strangly, just like some of the Org heads crying for Prince to pick up the guitar) ...He's like the folks that got a hard-on after the midget dropped PR but had no idea he existed before his iconic making moment or that at Prince's base, he is as an R&B artist who is eclectic as hell...
