Forever in my life...would be cool if the SOTT version had some extended acoustic guitar playing like the live versions.

Bambi...just when he starts slamming the drums, he fades it out.

Rockhard in a funky place...this one could last forever!

Comeback...this one's just beautiful.

Wasted Kisses...great track, creates such an intense atmosphere.

Ýou are right...´Sexy Dancer´ ´s extended version is a lot better. ´Billy Jack Bitch´ ´s full version is very interesting too.
But IMO, I think most of ´The Vault´ album ended too soon. If Prince included ´I´ll do anything´ and ´I cant love u anymore´ it would have been a lot better. And most of the songs are very short. ´My little pill´ ends just when P was starting to do something very interesting on the piano...

Agree. But I think a big reason behind "The Vault" being so short is because those songs were simply contract filler for Warner Bros. and Prince was giving them the bare minimum to get out of his contract.

But in general, that's one of the reasons why Prince has never been fond of "radio edits" because he knows that the song isn't complete in it's edited format. But there are many songs by Prince that are very short, yet they are compact and complete works of art. As a listener, we may want the song to continue, but as a work of art the song is complete. Within the context of the "Lovesexy" album, the song "I Wish U Heaven" is a perfect example of brevity having it's place. But at the same time, we also know that when Prince released the Maxi-single for "I Wish U Heaven", he turned that song into an all out 10 minute jam. So go figure.

I wanted to hear him extend what he did at the end of "In This Bed I Scream" and the funky little part on "A Case of You".

Well thieves in the temple is one...when I finally heard the extended remix ...Man I was floored...that song was great.

I want to comment on all the folks saying digital garden... I agree completely on the song ending WAY WAY WAY too soon...I'll bet there is a longer version out there...check the Vault..anyways my comment about that song is that it could have been even better without the crap at the end.."We're here and willin' to do tha work!" AAARRGGHHH!! I abso-fucking-lutely hate that at the end of that song!!! It ruined it for me... musically that song was so creative and mezmerizing...when I first heard it on the Ahdio show I thought it was fantastic all the way up to the aforementioned shitty ending. I had hoped that that was a shorted mix just for the ahdio show...(big dramatic sigh!) I was wrong cry

Dinner with Delores - probably the most underrated Prince song ever; a masterful peice of pop genius

I agree... My bf calls Prince "Princess" and likes to gently mock my preoccupation with all things princely, so I pay attention when he likes a song. Dinner with Dolores is one of his top 10 faves. The song's bitterness is perfectly matched by its raw yet subtle rock sound. I love it when a rock song is about real resentment.

Easy...

"She Loves Me 4 Me" is too short, it should definetly keep going.

I Wish U Heaven; you're left sitting there, saying to yourself. "Huh, that's the end!?"

so should every end be: Short and painless! Better then long and hurtful!

"Love 2 the 9s" -- From the first moment I heard this song, I loved it. It reminded me of the '79 Prince album. But only after a minute or so the song changes into something totally different. I always thought he should've put another 3 minutes in there before changing it so drastically. "I wanna see your booty boom"?? whatever

I love that song too. But part of the beauty of "Have a Heart" is the song that follows, which is "Objects in the Mirror". I don't know if you realized this or not, but the beginning of "Have a Heart" and the ending of "Objects in the Mirror" are essentially the same. After the last verse or chorus where he sings "the objects in the mirror r closer than they appear..." the song trails off into a piano melody where Prince then re-introduces the "theme" from "Have a Heart" on piano, except this time when he's playing it, it's slowed down. So really "Have a Heart" and "Objects in the Mirror" are like two songs in one that rely on each other. It's sort of like "Into the Light" and "I Will" from Chaos and Disorder, those two songs are meant to be together. "Have a Heart" and "Objects in the Mirror" are the same way.

So when I listen to those two songs, I listen to it from the point of view that "Have a Heart" doesn't really have an ending and "Objects in the Mirror" doesn't really have a beginning. The songs just sort of merge together as one.

The drums should continue and the jam evolves into a "We Will Rock You" kinda of vibe with a killer guitar solo.

Everyone keeps mentioning "Computer Blue", but I think that if the long version were released, then "Father's Song" probably wouldn't have been included at the end of Computer Blue, and I love "Father's Song". So I don't know if when people say it should've been longer if they're refering to Father's Song being longer or if they mean just an extended jam of Computer Blue.
