That's what I'm thinkin. Its gonna be an awkward interview. I have a feeling Prince is gonna give the hosts: (Hyper Jilesa and Creepy Big Tigger) the cold shoulder. The live audience as well as the viewers of 106 & Park, are 9-16 year old girls. They have no idea what Prince is. Poor young things are gonna think Aladdin is comin to the couch. disbelief

first off some of them 9-16 yrs might actually like him (like me and the other teens on this site) second, maybe thats the whole point of prince goin on there. expose the younger crowd to somethin new

As a 'youngin' myself, 19, I wonder at the way some older fans assume if you're young you can't appreciate Prince or other great music. I watch 106 & Park on occassion, but I also love Prince and, happily, most of my peers know good music as well. Age is irrelevant when it comes to finding music that speaks to you personally. I realized this long ago, why haven't some of you?

Uh...because it's a black show maybe? eek

That would be like Teena Marie performing at the Grand Ole Opry simply because she's white. If Prince does go on there, he will be totally out of place with those tasteless brats.

That show is a hip hop crowd and not Prince's crowd at all.
Not all black people like hip hop. All my friends hate it.

Yeah, but there will be people there that know who he is and the tv audience that would tune in just because it is Prince. P transends generations so it makes sense to go on a show that profiles Black music.

It certainly makes sense to go on a show that profiles black music. However, that show doesn't profile black music. It profiles black bullshit.

falloff Very true but I'd still like for Prince to go on the show. It would just be interesting to see him in a place that isn't his scene.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Yeah, but it just reflects the bullshit that's out there. But if P were to go on a show it INSTANTLY becomes the Prince Show and a different audience tunes in as well as the newbies and the youngins who don't know. P is one of those artists that dominate wherever he shows up. He BECOMES the show and the show bows down to him.

I just wasted an hour of my life I can't get back...He didn't show up and I checked the 106 and Park guest list again....he's not listed anymore. I'm kinda glad.....after TRL in 1999, I just don't want to see him on these dumb shows.

Exactly. When I started to dig Prince in the 90s as a teen, I received the same treatment from older people who were suprised that I like Prince music because of my age. They even thought I was crazy of liking artists before my time. Well I dont give a fuck if the artist is 65 if he/she makes good music then I am going to feel them.

I guess this is one of those times where it's a good thing that my hate for BET is stronger than my love for P.

I'm truly sorry for those who suffered. Go read a book and feel better. razz

It would been nice if he was there and also it would give Tamar some exposure to the younger people since she isn't too much older than them and also her album supposed to be coming out. I havent watch 106 &Park since AJ and Free left and I cant stand the new hosts. I am pretty sure that AJ and Free would been better choice to interview him.

Oh well...I hope he make other TV appearances soon

Personally, I'm looking forward to the 60 Minutes interview. I still hope it's gonna happen.
I guess Prince figured with the exposure the Tower Records gig got, and the repeat of his SNL performance this weekend, he could skip 106 for now.
