it would simply include only the full versions of songs like

anotherloverholenyohead
shockadelica
erotic city
she's always in my hair
feel u up
little red corvette
kiss
let's go crazy
pop life
raspberry beret
paisley park
i wish u heaven
scarlet pussy
escape
another lonely christmas
thieves in the temple

plus a couple of hit singles and perhaps two well known songs
in longer versions. like perhaps Girls & Boys in an unknown,
extended version.

that would be the coolest.

Hello,

The ultimate would be most of the A and B-side singles releases in their full length versions, plus a few extras.

I know there is an extended version of Horny Pony somewhere.

There could be a CD collection just of the full length versions of the single releases, or maybe a box-set.

Maybe Rhino will do a "sequel"?

sexy dancer 12"
let's work 12"
little red corvette 12"
let's go crazy 12"
another lonely christmas (long version)
raspberry beret 12"
pop life (sheila e. mix)
paisley park 12"
she's always in my hair (long version)
girl (long version)
kiss 12"
love or money (long version)
alexa de paris (long version)

as much as i love "america" and "mountains" 12" versions, i'd leave 'em off to make space for more music...maybe put 'em on a promo e.p. or something.

also, i realize this only goes up to 86, but that could open the door for a companion release of 12" cuts from 87 to present.

nod

they're cool and all, but both could make room for 3 songs each
so i would rather have some more songs instead of just those 2.

Although they can be really fussy. Even thought they're listed as 100 minutes, I've only been able to burn up to 94 and a half. When I first got them, they were working great. But now, I can't get them to complete without errors or clicking all through the last several tracks. I always read that they're experimental technology and to use at your own risk. They've been known to ruin cd burners and entire computers. eek

A couple of summers ago I digitized all of my Prince and Paisley Park stuff that was still only available on vinyl and made the 4-disc set listed below. I also threw in what was available on CD with the goal of making it a (mostly) complete remix/b-side collection. Of course certain things had to be sacrificed (i.e. the 22 minute version of "America") and I left off a lot of the later DJ mixes.

Anyway, here's what MY Ultimate Prince has on it...

DISC 1
Let's Work (Dance Mix)
Gotta Stop (Messin' About)
How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore
Little Red Corvette (Dance Mix)
Horny Toad
Irresistable Bitch
17 Days
Let's Go Crazy (Special Dance Mix)
Erotic City (Dance Mix)
I Would Die 4 U (Extended Version)
Another Lonely Christmas (Extended Version)
God (Instrumental)
God (Vocal)

DISC 2
Paisley Park (Remix)
Raspberry Beret (New Mix)
She's Always in my Hair (Extended Version)
Pop Life (Fresh Dance Mix)
Hello (Extended)
Girl (Extended)
Kiss (Extended Version)
Love or Money (Extended)
Mountains (Extended Version)
Alexa de Paris (Extended Version)
Anotherloverholenyohead (Extended Version)

DISC 3
La La La He He Hee (Extended Version)
Shockadelica (Extended Version)
U Got The Look (Long Look)
Housequake (7 Minutes MoQuake)
Hot Thing (Extended Remix)
Alphabet St (This Is Not Music This Is A Trip)
Glam Slam (Remix)
Escape (Free yo mind from this rat race)
I Wish U Heaven (Part 1 2 3)
Scarlett Pussy (Extended)

DISC 4
Batdance (The Batmix)
200 Balloons
Partyman (The Video Mix)
Feel U Up (Long Stroke)
Sex
The Future (Remix)
Thieves In The Temple (Extended Remix)
Get Off
The Lubricated Lady
Loveleft, Loveright
Violet The Organ Grinder
Horny Pony
Rock & Roll Is Alive! (And It Lives In Minneapolis)

Why does everyone like that Sheila E remix of "Pop Life"? Throw that away and use the U.K. extended version instead!

What made you choose the Fresh Dance Mix? Short on space?

no. i'm just more familiar with it, and the UK mix is good, but it never really impressed me so much that i'd opt for it over the sheila e. mix. i do like both pretty much equally - it's just that the US 12" brings back more memories for me, i guess. shrug

Of course, "Computer Blue"... but wouldn't it be better on a "Purple Rain Special Edition Remastered" ? With studio reharsals, the missing bits of TBO, Darling Nikki, Purple Rain... G-Spot and Dance Electric extended sung by Prince... drool drool drool
The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams
Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose
Don't Ever Lose Your Dreams

I got both of them within a few months of each other in 1985-86 so for me, one isn't more nostalgic than the other.

The goal here was to stick with offical releases. And of course a few things had to be dropped for time. "Sexy Dancer" and "Electric Chair" were probably the hardest to let go. sad
