Prince discussion on FREE FM radio show

"JV and Elvis" of the new WFNY free fm radio station had a cool segment today.

They enlisted callers to name someone
on the level of Prince as an all-around musician in the 20th century.

Closest they came to was Hendrix and Lennon. But the hosts said that those 2 just arent as versatile all-around.
They kind of gave in when someone mentioned Stevie Wonder.

Some other names from callers were Sting, Billy Joel, Kurt Cobain...but none of those impressed JV and elvis.

Only bad thing is they were a little insensitive to the ecentricities of Prince (eg not wanting to be looked at).

But they were playing 1999, Lets go Crazy, Diamonds & Pearls, When Doves Cry, Pop Life and went on and on about his musicianship, songwriting, producing.

Fauxie

Yeah, you'd have to say Stevie. He's untouchable as far as I'm concerned. Maybe there have been equals, but none better.

i don't think stevie's got princes genuine versatility, to be able to do rock and jazz etc so well (although obviously thats opinion in whether or not prince can do it well! but i think he can)
