Prince is planning...

Is PRINCE planning a huge television special to support the release of "3121"
I mean COME ON PRINCE, where are the television performances.
There are no interviews or performance spots to promote this hot new record!

I've heard the album and its a good quality record, which deserves radio play and a major push by its label and artist!
"Black Sweat" is the Jam!!!
"Fury" should be fused into a medley with "Black Sweat" for a t.v. performance.
Prince is definitely missing out on a great opportunity to sell this record to the masses. Why do all the work to get Universal to distribute the record and still no major push?

If I were Prince (but I'm not -LOL) I would've performed "Te Amo Corazon" on Letterman and Good Morning America in January.
Kept the S-N-L performance in february...including the premiere of "Black Sweat" on Mtv, Vh1 and Bet, which was right on time when it did drop on TRL and 106 & Park!

"Black Sweat/Fury" would have been a medley for S-N-L, followed by "B,L & B" w/Tamar. Plus Commercials would have been on T.V. and Radio to promote the new album this week.

I'm definitely diggin "The Dance" (hmmm) prince where you at man?

Am I missing something?
When did artist start promotion after the album was released!?

I've heard of massive promotion to get an album to sell well its first week, so the artist could possibly debut at #1 or atleast in the Top 10!
Not let all the hardcore fans buy up the records the 1st week and lose the amount of records to be sold to die hards, so they can't add up with mainstream fans. That makes no sense. The album can sell 50,000 copies its first week to the diehards without no promotion, but when the massives start buying, the numbers will add up, but not enough to keep it a-top the charts.

I've heard the album and its a good record.

The big promo push for Musicology started well before the album was released or the tour started...the Grammys, various TV appearances. In fact the tour started three weeks before the album was on the shelves, though it was in the NPGMC download store on 27 March (and of course copies were distributed to all concert goers from that night). shrug

Maybe he's not looking for big first-week numbers and is using a different strategy this time, esp. since the earliest rumored tour start date is sometime in May? smile

even without alot of promotion,I am confident that Prince will debut at Number One.The first-week sales should be impressive.

I wish Prince would do something similar to "Elvis: The '68 Comeback Special". That would be cool to see for 3121, invite some special guests like The Revolution...etc. Haven't planned it out, but you get the jist of it

Prince has never been great at pushing his records.
Black Sweat should be all over MTV and the radio as well as clubs. There should be remixes of it done by professional remixers too. It's not giving away control. It's a great way to get exposure in the clubs and it's allowing some of todays most creative dj's and producers pay tribute to a legend like Prince.
I don't know about the medley idea. That was Prince's tired schtick throughout the 90's. If I hear one more Prince medley(especially live) I will croak.
There should be a retrospective on VH1 or MTV as well showcasing his new record as well as documenting his past. Part of the problem with Prince is that he isn't getting any younger and his audience is dwindling. A great way to expose the younger audience is to do a "Behind The Music" style special that will show a younger audience that "Yes! This man kicked ass in the 80's and has major relevence in the music world". I really think it all boils down to Prince not being able to relenquish some control and let others help. I hope he gets it right this time.
