You post on the Org all the time but you hate on Prince. Why?

It kind of buggles the cranium. people are entitled to say what they feel but why would you come on a board all the time and rag on the subject you obviously are obsessed about? makes no sense.

i guess it's ok to dislike something Prince might do or you have a criticizm but jeesh, why show up at the party and moan that they aren't playing what you want to hear when you know they gonna be playin' something you don't like?

Your operative word is "obsessed".

It's a strong word like hate and jealousy. They are just as much motivators as love and appreciation. It seems that hate and jealousy are perhaps more consuming. Don't like the words but they're real. They comes in all shapes and sizes and degrees.

Love, they say, conquers all. I'm not sure how that all works out but in some way, it probably will. In the mean time..."ignore" is a good word.

cant say im ever dissappointed in his music - love it always have .

neat thing im finding here - is that we can express our own opinions about him - good and bad - makes it fair and balanced

and anyone who cant handle it - well i guess they need to get thicker skin -

surely its gotta work both ways cool

when Prince gives a shit about what is said about him - good and bad - someone please let me know - and i'll curb it so i dont hurt his feewings - or curb it so his ego dont get bloated lol

either way im havin fun and not likely to let anyon stop me

Cant wait to get 3121 album and participate in some of the music threads.

Have only heard Black Sweat so far - and absolutely Loved it.

It's called Battered Princefan Syndrome, BPFS for short. My guess is that this person or people don't know the guy personally but internalize something he did in his own life and made it something he has personally against her/him/them.

Me? I've been a fan for almost thirty years and don't know enough about the guy to form an opinion about him as a person.

I know that's right. I stay out of his business. All I want from him is his music. I don't care where Mani is, I don't try to figure out which song is about Mayte or none of that because I don't care. All I wanna know is when the next album is coming out and I'm good. As long as he's healthy and putting out shit, I'm cool.

Right. and on a different level, it will have nothing to do with anything he did at all. Prince (in this case) or [celebrity of choice] simply becomes the symbol/target for all that is wrong/right in a persons life so that anger is more a reflection of the person it comes from.

As a consumer, you have a right to complain if you don't like something. Yes, you have a right to stop buying the product but if you complain, it just might be better the next time around.

I remember reading the "What Type Of Album Do You Want Prince To Make" type threads last year. The responses ranged from "more rock", "less horns", "Claire Fisher", "accoustical", "more synths", etc. From what I've read here so far about the new album, it seems to have a track for each of these things so, for all we know, Prince himself may have read those threads and is now trying to please everyone. The bitching and complaining might actually be doing some good. The problem is, his fan base is too diverse. He did that to himself though so he just has to live with the criticism from people that don't like particular things he does in his diversity.

prince's music is heavenly. prince, the man, seems to be quite the little prick. i'll never be having him over for tea so to me his personality traits don't matter.

i don't get the folks who constantly bash the guy though. they have accounts and they frequent the site regularly but they claim to not like anything he's done since 1988 or so. to me, that means you no longer like the guy's music. why would you frequent a site based on someone whose music you no longer like? baffles the brain. lol

I think you are right the org is a reflection of his fanbase and therefore likely to be as diverse. The music he's been putting out over the four decades has been ecclectic and at times juxtapositional and i spose it has come to this position.

It must be hard to please the 'prince the entertainer' or 'prince the pretty man' as well as 'prince the invotator' and 'prince the rock god' fans at the same time and he is likely to disappoint as many of his -vocal- fans as please them with each and every new project.

Me? I've last been pleased with -the music of- the Las Vegas DVD.
I feel pretty, that's enough

Nothing wrong with criticism but it seems that some use that criticism as a mask for other underlying things...there's no justification for some of the things said. Others, at times, play devils advocate and that's fine. I think it's the harsh comments that Milty and the others were referring to.

Nah, Vain. I particularly am not talking about those Orgers. I'm talking about the ones who bash dude personally all the damn time, like they have some personal vendetta against the guy.

Come on now...let's not turn the Org into a Michael Jackson site or NPG...If someone is flaming on Prince and his fans for no reason, then such behavior should be dealt with...It's not that serious...As someone else said in a previous post, a lot of the folks that come on the Org. are just posting bait...If you have a problem with someone not digging the man, then debate them in an intellectual fashion...But let's not resort to shutting down posters who criticize Prince's music...I think we are bigger then that...At least I hope...

I still want to see examples of these people who rag all the time.

All I have seen are different people with different opinions. Due to the sheer volume of people on here, if you want to look for all negative reviews, you can find them. If you want to look for all positive reviews, you can find them.

At the moment, the only constant I can spot is a minority of people who come on here getting pissed off at other people for not agreeing with their view of the world.

Now that seems really sad!

People are miserable. One complain can turn into an army of angry followers. shrug As long as he is healthy and still jam the way he does, long live the Prince. He is one of the best musicians and pieces of eye candy that has ever graced stardom. fallinluv music

Exactly! That's like me frequenting MJ fan boards and going on and on about not liking his output since Thriller. People need to let it go.

I started out being a fan during the "Prince" album which would have been the late 70's. I fell out of like with him by 1986. He was no longer on my radar. I went 18 years not caring about any new music from P. I really had no idea that he was still releasing music. It would have been ridiculous for me to take the time to sign up and become a member of a Prince fansite and rant and rave about not liking any of his output since 1985.

I rekindled my music relationship with P in 2004 due to all the media coverage surrounding the RRHOF induction. Everything that I post on here is not favorable, but I don't bash the guy either from post to post.

Why waste energy discussing a musician that hasn't put out any music to your liking in over 20 years? confuse
