I went to the Best Buy in NYC on 86th and Lexington Ave this evening. Nothing.

best buy's website has it listed with a very different tracklisting. they also have it listed as "sold out."

so I take it nobody found it in the stores today. Not even the ones who said their store claimed to have it in stock?

I hope at least somebody finds this.

I went to Target in Jacksonville, Florida, this morning, and it wasn't on the shelves. Checked Circuit City as well, and they've posted a notice that the "Street date has been delayed due to vendor circumstances." I can't do an in-store pickup on Best Buy's Web site, so I guess I shouldn't waste a trip over there, too.

I went to Best Buy yesterday to get a power plug for my laptop, damn HP and asked a cs rep, and he said they'll have it today. I asked if he was sure, he looked it up in his system and said it was listed. I won't know for sure until later this evening when I have the chance to go back.

I just want to make it known that the Best Buy folks are the nicest people I've ever encountered while shopping.

So be easy on them, if it's not there today. It's really not their fault!

I GOT IT.

Went to Target and Circuit City in Jacksonville Florida this morning and found nothing. Circuit City had posted a notice that the "street date had been changed."

I figured there was no use in going to Best Buy, but I went on my lunch break and much to my surprise, they had 3 copies. I'm guessing they were supossed to pull them, but someone dropped the ball or thought they had snatched them all.

I bought them all.

The track list is different than what I've seen posted online, but the sound quality is great. Hearing early-era tracks remastered really makes me hope all the more that Prince will give his back catalog the remastering treatment that it so badly needs.

My Target had nothing but the signs that said Prince $9.98. That would've been a hot price. The guys didn't know why they didn't have any. I went to Best Buy. They had about 4 copies. I got 1 for $14.99. I jammed the mixes on the way to work. Pretty cool

Oh yeah, this is New Orleans area by the way.

Went to 2 Targets in the Denver area and called 2 others out of state and they all had no copies at any of these stores. One out of state store checked the printout of new releases that they get in the stockroom and said this release was not on the list. Called Borders and they said it is not in stock or on order. Went to Best Buy and they had a good handful of copies for $14.99 each. Bought one!

went back to 2 best buys within 2 hrs, and all copies were pulled. at one store, the guy told me they never got a shipment and really seemed uncomfortable as though he was lying, and at the other store where I bought a copy earlier, they told me they had to pull all the copies because the CDs were "defective" and would't play (anotehr lie). Glad I got there in time to get my 1 copy.

Went to Target at lunch and they said it had been pulled w/o a new release date. But, I found it at Best Buy for 14.99. I made them give it to me for the 9.98 price in my Target ad. She tried to say that must be for a single disc version and not a 2 disc version. But, she called Target and they couldn't confirm anything since they didn't have it. So, she gave it to me for 9.98. Sweet!

Nice packaging. But, the word Ultimate would be better served on a more complete edition. I guess they will continue to milk his catalog with new releases every few years.

Also, I thought I had read this was a Rhino release. I was suprised to see this is from WB.

If you search on iTunes music store for "ultimate prince" you can find it. But, it doesn't allow you to purchase the tracks.

I picked mine up at Best Buy today, but I grabbed it as the sales guy was pulling them from the shelves. I asked him why he was pulling them and he said that they just received a email from the distributor to pull them from the shelves.

The story thickens...After seeing 20+ this morning at Best Buy and getting 3, I went back after work after reading about others not being able to find it at stores or online. They had 3 left, also asked the sales guy if he knew why these were being pulled, he looked in the computer and didn't see anything saying that they were supposed to be. He also went to Bestbuy web site and thought it was weird that it said they were sold out. Then I went to Target and they had a sign up saying that it was postponed...no rain checks since a future release date wasn't announced.
