My God...Endorphinmachine!!! I just got "The Gold Experience," am just at "Endorphinmachine," and am absolutely tripping!
I swear, it sounds like this could have come straight from Steve Vai's "Passion and Warfare." The guitar sound, the mix, it's so heavy, and I love it! Oh, and now I see, from the bells at the end of the song, how this was supposed to be part of "Come." I guess it was originally supposed to segue into "Space," huh?

Yes, it was originally part of a three song sequence that directly segue into each other...

This is one of my faves from P as far as his guitar-oriented songs. Good ear regarding Vai. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

The song is great, but the mix is a mess. A few tracks on TGE are really bad mixed.
Endorphinemachine, Dolphin and gold. The first two tracks are simply way too keybord-oriented in the mix. They lack real punch. The guitars sound really bad. This is a common problem with p's "guitar driven" songs. That is one of the reasons, why i really love the first tracks of chaos and disorder. They are a really great mixed with cool guitar sounbds.

Where Have U Been The Last 10 Years????? No kidding, huh? I can give you a hint: try starting with 3rd grade! tainacher: You really think the mix is bad? I think it has a good punch to it. However, this is only upon first listen. Give me a week or so. So far, my favorite mixing is from the "Come" album. It's got a really warm, deep sound throughout.

I really love a lot of songs from TGE, especialley "Billy Jack", "Shhh" and "Eye hate u".
But, yes, i believe the album has a serious production problem. It is the same with "A million days" on musicology. Also "bloodless" mix in my opinion. BTW: A lot of people believe, that "TGE" is "overproduced". But YOU decide.. "Come" has a good mix, i agree, but the style of the album is more consistent, so it is easier to mix the album. I believe that "Diamonds and pearls" has the best sounds of all 90ies releases. Not the best songs perhaps, but a real good sound.

i dunno....i think there's something having said for an album that doesn't have a high production value. i mean look at Purple Rain. The production is so choppy it's great and it translates well with the edginess of the album. 1999 and SOTT is also like that.
then you get something like TGE where the songs are more mainstream than ie Purple Rain and you kind of expect the production and mixing to be cleaner. funny, the albums that are considered Prince best work (Dirty Mind, 1999, PR, SOTT) are the ones with lower production values.

Totally agree. Could it be that when Prince simply slaps his thoughts on tape, without loads of extra production, he captures the essence? Even though the production quality suffers. .

Everyone here is right. But the greatest tragedy is that Endorphinmachine never got the audience it deserved. I wish someone would cover it....maybe Kravitz..

Come (original version) Endorphinmachine Space And ive never been able to listen to it any other way since. Jeez, the thought of having to sit through P Control to get to Endorphinmachine is awful. I love this funky version of Come to death, and the un synthesised Endorphinemachine is like a gift from god. Maybe one day, a boot of Fury will turn up like that.

I love TGE. My favorit songs are "Endorphinmachine", "Shhh", "Dolphin" (great guitar solo), "TMBGITW" (the best version is here) , "Billy jack bitch", " hate u" & "Gold" . But there is 1 song I always skip: "Shy". I Don't like it. "Endorphinmachine" is good. Very strong.

Come (original version) Endorphinmachine Space Is this the "Enorphinmachine" people have referred to recently as when comparing SNL's "Fury" with 3121's 'more produced' "Fury"? "She made me glad to be a man"
