I don't know if this has already been discussed here or not but in your opinion, who has better range vocally, prince or maxwell? While I think maxwell is a better overall singer, when it comes down 2 who can hit THE high note and THE low one, prince has got'em. What do u think?

Oh honey its Prince all the way!!! Only he can hit those notes that hit me right there and make me just melt!!! Maxwell is ok if you like immitation but Prince is a inovater!!! No one was like him and no one will ever be like him!!! Prince is the best!!!

Whether Prince or Maxwell hits the higher note, doesn't make them a better singer. Prince has ways of changing his voice, which allows him to use his vocal ranges in different AND creative ways that Maxwell could only wish for. Man! How can you even compare the two?! That's only one of the MANY reasons why Prince is THE MAN in music!

I think they are Both Decent in Falsetto though Neither can touch a Philip Bailey or a Eddie Kendricks&about another 99 other Cats I've heard through the Years.in there Regular Voice? Maxwell is ok.Prince Sounds like Morris Day to me.I Like the Overall Sound with Both.they wouldn't make My top 25 Vocalist Ever! but 50-100 I'd include them.

Prince is better than anyone,and Maxwell is totally Ugly, Prince is the best in everything,especially music and Singing.

prince is 10 times a better vocalist than maxwell...prince is a frigging MAGICIAN when it comes to voice...but i gotta say, maxwell just blew me away when he re-did kate bush's "this woman's work"...incredible!!!

Call me nuts but before all this ONA stuff, I would have easily said Maxwell - his voice is SO pure (This Woman's Work - live from MTV UnPlugged).

BUT then came ONA - P's voice is more clear & flawless than ever before. Think back to Avalanche live - he absolutely KILLED IT. And if there's any justice in the world, he'll release a live version of it b/c the one on the ONA album just doesn't compare.

Both have wonderful voices, of course...

I'm not going to say who is better. We're on a prince fansite...errybody is going to say prince no matter what.

Maxwell can sing his ass off. I'm not going to take anything away from his talent.

Prince is Prince, Maxwell is Maxwell. I love'em both.

Prince ofcourse (a horse is a horse). Maxwell though ,is good. I got to know him at his second album. Excellent music to 'bath in'.
I also like Spacek with his album 'curvatia'. He on his turn reminded me of Maxwell , more electronic.

Prince ofcourse. But much respect to Maxwell. I don't know many singer that can go from Bass/Baritone to Soprano in one note. It's his mastery of it, that makes him a phenomenal singer. I'm sure there are others that can do it, but not as good as P can.

Couple more years of seasoning, I think Max could give P atleast a run for his money.
