I know that I am late to the party, but I just heard the Rainbow Children for the first time and I could not help but compare it to 3121. I am pretty sure that the reason why it took me so long to get it is because I heard the “Work PT 1” which is an interesting song to be kind. But it underscores Prince’s problem; why can’t he learn to select a good lead out single?!

The album itself is a master piece; songs like “1+1+1 is 3” and “Everlasting Now” puts every funk number on 3121 to shame. And the song “Last December” is what BLB & The Word should have been. I know that Prince is trying to go for the pop audience with 3121, but perhaps instead of joining the crowd with lame tunes. Maybe, just maybe, he should have shown them what REALLY GREAT music sounds like….

I am a huge fan, I should wish more people would get to experience the really great music & lyrics to back it up.

I like the tracks, I just don't like that weird voice inbetween the tracks which it could of done without.
