The Chocolate Invasion-Shud I Get It?

I recently brought the ONA boxset from NPG and I loved It.
Now I'm just wondering whever to get the chocolate invasion, which is funky sounding...
What's it like and is it worth a purchase?
Cheers wink

I bought it from the NPGMC and although there are a couple of interesting tracks on there it sounds like a collection of B-sides, none of which are really album-quality material. If you like Prince in R&B mode and like the "Rave"-era sound, and aren't too bothered about the tracks being among his best, I suppose it is ok in places.

It's a great compilation. Also get "The Slaughterhouse".

It features the plastic production of Rave and Emancipation, but the songs are stronger imo!

Definitely get it!

"Underneath The Cream" is worth the price of it! Such a dreamy delicious falsetto and it ranks among of my fave songs ever. It should be put on a real CD.... maybe be re-released as a virtual B-side extended version on 3121. Massive promotion and radio play..... I can dream can't I?

"Supercute", and "High" are also funky cool.

Bring on the Chocolate invasion!

I'd get it. The highlights for me were:

Sex Me Sex Me Not - people like to dog it here but that was one of the last newer songs before 3121 that made me wanna dance.

Vavoom - an unreleased gem that kicks ass. Another great song to dance to.

The Dance - the original version, and it cool to compare the 2. I like both versions.

When I Lay My Hands On U - great weird track

Check it out for yourself.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's good for an internet-exclusive release. Don't expect anything great though.

There are some typically cheap sounding plastic songs on it, and some surprisingly enjoyable highlights.

It's a solid collection of songs.

Hi...

in my very own opinion it's a good purchase... 7 ou of 10 songs R excellent (When Eye lay my hands on U, Judas Smile, U make my sun shine) or really good (Supercute, Underneath..., Sex me) or at least funny (Vavoom). Weakest ones are 4 me High (pretty ugly) the dance which sounds cold in spite of the lyrics and Gamillah which is not his best instrumental...

Enjoy !

Are you a tool? You don't have to be a musician to recognize musical quality.

Why do you take constructive criticism towards an artist so personally? You have issues.

You sound like Prince during one of his childish fits.

Such immaturity - you have nothing to say in response and so you choose to make sniping remarks based on information in my profile. How childish can you possibly get?

Better songs than Musicology in my opinion, include Slaughterhouse and better compilation than Crystal Ball.

Question oh wise one: Would Prince benifit from your insight's that somehow have passed him by?

Question 2. Do you honestly believe that you know better than Prince with regard to what his sound should sound like?

Question 3. Are U Quincy Jones in disguise?
