I am curious any albums after 1984 which spend more time at #1

did any come close??

I think MC Hammer's "Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em" spent 21 weeks at #1 in 1990 maybe into 1991. I remember hearing that it was the first album since Purple Rain to be at #1 for that long.

If correct, it appears he still holds the record for consecutive weeks at #1 spot held by one album:

"Prince set a record for longest consecutive run at number one, when the Purple Rain soundtrack spent twenty-four consecutive weeks at number one."
