Prince~Fury~Hendrix You know listening to this song reminds me a lot of Hendrix. Not the guitar playing but the lyrics. I've been listening to Hendrix as long as Prince. Slow the song down a bit and tweak the riff a little and to me it sounds like Jimi wrote it. And no I'm not smoking anything. "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

This sounds like the Prince that is inspired on here. It definitley seems like he got this one out the 1983 vault and came out RIGHT ON TIME. 2006 was definitley the year for the old Prince to be back. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Yes. This song is reminiscent (in production too, on record) of Hendrix's First Rays of the New Rising Sun period, particularly the song Dolly Dagger.

Absurd.
Prince can't produce anymore. Boy, where the balls of these song removed on the album. Jimi would not write anything like this keyboard driven drivel. WTF is wrong with the album version. Why is the guitar buried behind all those wack generic synths. This song really pissed me off about this album. [Edited 3/12/06 23:49pm]

I've still only heard the SNL version but I immediately thought of Jimi when I heard it, the vocal delivery especially. Even the line "Queen got no King" or however it goes reminds mee of Jimi's "The Wind Cried Mary".

SNL version = Prince channeling Jimi
3121 version = Prince channeling Yanni

Jimi would not write anything like this keyboard driven drivel." That's an unfair statement being that Hendrix died before he turned 30. He never had to get older and watch pop music pass him by. He only released albums during his hey day. Never had to contend with getting used up. And like every artist he would have faced these challenges had he lived. If Prince had passed right after "Sign" his legacy would be even stronger. That's seems to be the peak of most pop artist's powers. Had Hendrix lived he would have released some drivel...it's inevitable... [Edited 3/13/06 5:58am] [Edited 3/13/06 8:01am]
