I think MC Hammer's "Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em" spent 21 weeks at #1 in 1990 maybe into 1991. I remember hearing that it was the first album since Purple Rain to be at #1 for that long. [Edited 3/13/06 10:41am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

See Wiki at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...lboard_200 If correct, it appears he still holds the record for consecutive weeks at #1 spot held by one album: "Prince set a record for longest consecutive run at number one, when the Purple Rain soundtrack spent twenty-four consecutive weeks at number one." I wonder if Soundscan had been around if it would have held 24 at number one. \ No hard feelings.

I know you are a chart fiend, so you'll probably find this interesting too (you'll need to scroll on the first one):

It's good to hear it still holds that record. That's pretty fitting for the greatest album of all time. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
