Do you think Tamar and the twins are too young for most of the Prince fan base?

I was thinking that I was the only one but I was talking to a friend and we both thought that MOST (not all) of Prince's fans are in their late 20's to early 40's by now (and female). We were discussing how Prince may be marketing Tamar and the twins the wrong crowd. He should try and get them in front of folks who are much younger. What is your thought?

I surely can't believe that any heterosexual man in the age range you mentioned will say "oh well, how boring, those girls are for the young folks". I think their minds might tend more to think censored tonk kind of stuff.

i ain't sure how old tamar is, but the twins are the same age as i am (25). i don't feel as if they need to be targeted towards a certain age group at all.

Very true, the young stuff will draw a bigger crowd regardless of age or gender. Youth and beauty are here to stay and have a big pull in our society today. biggrin

OH no doubt. That's why my husband has seen them in Philly and now he is seeing them twice in DC but will he buy her album?

So now we're calling Tamar's titties "the twins"?

I think it's more that they are marketed correctly. Or that she is marketed correctly. From what I've seen so far...I almost wish she were a little funkier (her style). She's talented. I like her. I do think that a younger audience might not connect and this would be too bad. Start with the fashion...From all I've seen she's dressing a bit too old. You can be retro and young.

Anyway, it's hard to say since we haven't heard the CD/seen videos. I'm looking forward though.

And about the twins. I don't think she needs them. They suit Prince more because people expect that kind of thing from him. I would prefer her without.

I agree. I like Tamar so far...very pretty young lady, but she needs a damn makeover. She looks much older than 25. I wish I could submit some suggestions to her people. She needs to ditch that wig and have her hair done like in these pictures:

She looks like a different person...much more youthful.

Me neither, and I really want to. I love these twins.

Wow. She does look like a different person. I get why they would go with this hair, though. (The longer hair looks like every girl out there) I like the fro and the big hair. They just need to funk it up...make the retro current. No more red handkerchief dresses with 50 thousand hankies on it. And no more caftans(unless they do something really unique to them). She needs hats and shades and beads and things but with a new twist. The way Anastacia added the twist (slightly less eclectic and a bit more street edge) only Tamar should focus on her legs the way she did her midriff.

There's plenty of time for long hair when she becomes T-ma or T-diddy or whatever she has to reinvent herself as next year.

The girls should go to her site for style tips/ideas (indirectly). At least she needs them to identify in some way. I don't know if anyone can identify with the images she has out there now. This current direction is perfect if she were the new Jesse Norman.

You know, I never thought of this. It would sicken me that Prince would directly try to "market" a singing group or solo artist toward his "fan base". It would be a sure sign that he is off the mark when it comes to understanding his "fans". I hope you are wrong.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Oh, I totally agree. I actually can't stand weave/wigs and I am personally tired of seeing so many artist with them. Everyone looks the same. There are tons of cute styles that can be worn with natural, unrelaxed hair., if that's the look that they are going for. She would definitely stand out from the crowd.

Hey, I hope someone from their camp reads this. You have made a lot of good suggestions. thumbs up!
