Favorite lyrics from 3121 anyone?

From "Love"

Like a bird, flying over the hilltops
love is like the sky, you know....it never stops
From the the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks
Love is whatever, whatever you want it to be

Not only is that chorus beautiful but that is straight out beautiful and my favorite lyric from this album mushy

I so totally agree. Even if everything else was crap, that lyric makes the price of admission completely worth it.

From "3121"

butterflies scared
that they're gonna be awake
all night long
dancing in ur belly
like a balarina
inspite of ur efforts
2 calm them down

mushy
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Ditto.

Finally some stuff that makes you smile and look at the rest of your day with confidence and hope.

Incredible "Camille'd" backing vocals by Wendy. It's incredible how the chemistry of these two voices still does it. It's just magic. "Love is free from all this..." : Goosebumps !

The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams

Wendy?

Anyway, I agree with Supa and IstenSzek about those two. The lyrics of 'Love' totally fit the amazing melody of the chorus (completely stuck in my head!) and the title track's lyrics totally fit the psychedelic, dreamy, freakish sound of the song.

I'm in a self-imposed '3121-ban' because I want to have something to look forward to on the 21st, but it's hard I so want to blast this right right now!

BTW, does anyone agree that 'Love' is directed towards us? You know, "stop giving me your wish list/love is free from all this". Similar to the changed line in Purple Rain, "if your love is unconditional/I do believe this friendship, it will never end".
Then consider it's a synth-based song with a great hook and no horns...

You're right, maybe not. Not her alone, that's for sure. It's because I haven't been as much excited about a Prince record in years. So of course W&L come to mind biggrin
Still, let's wait for the booklet credits...

Very interesting lyrics interpretation...

That's wishfull thinking. If you been through the ropes of a deep relation then you know it's hard work and both got to put some work into it. This lyric points out the part where it can go haywire if one of the two puts on the pressure in a relation and gets it out of balance.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Oh I love that line too. The attitude behind it. Only Prince can do that!

I think the opening lyrics of 3121 are great --

Take your pick from the Japanese robes and sandles
Drink champagne from a glass with chocolate handles

And I like the first time in the song when he says

It's goin' down. Like the wall of Berlin.

Not fond of it at the end of the song, though.

Also like this from Lolita:

Together, yes, I must admit
Long time ago, we'd be the shhhh (uh-oh!)

3121 edit...
