and bring it out on another album? he did it with rave, i think rebirth of the flesh would be an awesome album title!!

Funny how opinions collide. Check out what Per Nilsen had to say about it... you know "It's easy to see why it was left off" and all that...

I can't remember if it was Per,but one of the Uptown guys said that it made sense to trim 'Crystal Ball' into the 2-album 'Sott' set.As much as I like the discarded tracks,I have to agree.

But i think that once he offered the rehearsal version as a download, it would seem deflated to re-release it in a revamped version. I could be wrong, and i hope i am.

Should not update it, my opinion.
I like it on the Camille press, going right into HouseQuake. In fact, the entire Camille album is very good and I love the alternate takes of, say, IIWYG and the end track Rock Hard in a Funky Place. Ohhh, the 1985-1988 time frame was such a great period for Prince. So much music, so little time -- from Dream Factory and Crystal Ball and Camille to The Black Album, SOTT, LoveSexy and all the Madhouse garagefunkjazz.

Isn't it, though??...Damn, I loved that rehearsal version, even if it's edited...especially the "That's good!...(hesitation)...pretty good" at the very end..lol Throw that, and "Return Of The Bump Squad" on an all-funk/no ballads CD like someone up above suggested...and I'll be salivating... ...Edit, baby, YEAH!!... yes the rehearsel version is funky as hell. i heard the older live version of rave and it blows the album version away. so maybe a live version of rebirth on a totally live album called "REBIRTH OF THE FLESH"...i would just hate to see it get watered down like rave did.

Existenz is mo better! "eXistenZ" is certainly a different kind of movie... I liked it, but I liked "Videodrome" better. Cronenberg has always been obsessed with mutation of the human body and the subjectivity of reality... I love Cronenberg. "Crash" was another strange one... I have yet to see Crash, but isn't it funny that it's based on a novel by the boy that Empire Under the Sun is about?
And now Christian Bale is fighting dragons. Who remembers "Creepy" magazine? Uh oh, ya'll showing your age up in here.

Dead Ringers by David Cronenberg is one of my favourites films ever!!. Jeremy Irons was magnificent in that film.
Oh, and his version of The Fly was excellent too.

Love the song, and the lovesexy rehearsal version is amazing.
I doubt that he would release it again, especially since parts of the song were incorporated into Walk (don't walk)But it's a cool track nonetheless... If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

Empire Of The Sun is a work of fiction. The connection between it and Crash is that they were both written by JG Ballard (And are both excellent)

this track kicks ass. He better never touch the vault version. It was a damn shame that he censored the live rehearsal. That kicked ass! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

he should leave it alone and never release it.
it has more power as an outtake(like the black album). it's not that good of a song.
