Prince is ***ked.

Te Amo never enters the pop charts, Black Sweat is now gone, after only one week. Shit, Prince better get those commercial jingles ready to sell. He is gonna be toast this year, without a miracle.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

How exactly is he fucked, then?

I don't recall an album in, say, the last 8 years that had a hit single.

He seems terribly bothered about it. You could see the resignation in his body language in that picture of him photgraphing the nubile young twins in his bathroom on Oscar night. nod

i'm sure he makes enough money from his past successes that he could never have a hit again and be set for life.

Yeah, but it's not about money. It may bother him that he can't seem to be on top of the charts any more...

i thought he did that whole experiment with the musicology concert hand-out CDs to show how silly the charts were in the first place.

Yeah, but did he really pursuade people on the issue? The public is really stupid, ya know.... What I've come to understand is that the People who really dig Prince and his music are very unique, and tend to be creatively imaginative on a totally different level..Prince was always ahead of the times, musically, and was always creative on a much higher level that most other artists. There are a lot of people who will never, ever dig Prince- because they just can't connect with him on that level. Anyway, he still has us...

You know, it's my opinion that Prince truly does consider the charts to be silly and pointless nowadays but, at the same time, I think it does bug him that he isn't a charttopper anymore, or when his songs don't climb very far up said charts.

Kind of the same thing as the hot chick who would never, ever date or be interested romantically in the loser ugly dude, yet it still bugs her if he isn't attracted to her or doesn't fawn over her.

Yeah, I feel sorry for Prince. All he's got is his legacy, his good looks, his millions upon millions of dollars, a hardcore fanbase, and those ridiculously hot twins.

Poor guy. Do you think he'll commit suicide this year?

Lolita should have been the First single. B/W Beautiful Loved and Blessed

Then a dual format double A release with Black Sweat and Fury

Then if the wave caught on, Te Amo Corazon

And if it was still going, Love

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

Prince is not fucked. 3121 hasn't come out yet. If nothing else, he will debut in the top 10 (I think he'll finally hit number 1 but who knows). Where songs are concerned it doesn't matter anymore because radio ain't shit, even without worrying about Prince. Besides, Kiss will always be on the radio so I don't think Prince will be losing sleep any time soon.

Doesn't matter. The music industry is all about payola and corporate radio. When corporations like Clear Channel are in charge, you're either with them or left out. Album sales are mostly meaningless. When Prince has a concert, people will pay to see him. The mainstream music industry is worthless and irrelevant.

Te Amo is boring but Black Sweat kicks ass. If the mainstream can't get into it then that's there loss. Doesn't bother me and Prince doesn't look bothered at all. He can release Fury as a single, etc. He has a album of songs 2 pick from.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

That sounds like a coach whose team has just gotten a real bad beating and blames everything on a) the weather b) the referee c) the audience d) the playing ground...

I'd like to see Prince do well in the charts, even if he's not bothered. It's like, I'd prefer my favourite team to win the league rather than not.

I think there is a trend here - people just aren't buying singles anymore. They just wait and buy the album. But even album sales are diminishing, as people find ways of downloading the music for free.

I think the only way in the future that artists are going to earn money is from live concerts, and the album will practically just be an advert for the tour!

Of course, technology improvements will mean greater access to better quality bootlegs of concerts, so then no one will even go to the concerts.

Eventually the music industry will grind to a halt...

We're doomed, Mr. Mannering, doomed!
