It's a shame they made the charts at all. Making the charts these days is an insult. Andy is a four letter word.

Well now that you have spoken don't be surprised if Prince cancels 3121 completely.

- Of course....but the sad part is that sometimes he seems to be a little desperate for a hit again. He is not like David Bowie, who went to the underground direction. It seems he wants to prove himself he is still capable of it. I honestly would love if 3121 gave him a hit, so he could be satisfied and go experimental again.

A couple of days ago three was a report with regard to music companies paying off local radio stations to get their "top" client's records spun more frequently at radio stations. The usual suspects- Avril, Brit. Spears, etc. They were played an insanse amount of times. How deep do you think this hole goes? I'd say very deep- the record companies largely decide what will be a hit and what will not. If they viewed Prince as "relevent or current" they would make Black Sweat a hit. And believe me they could make some tunes off of 3121 hits. They don't for two main reasons- he's not viewed as current; and even if he was he was always hard to define. Prince at his best gave the record companies fits with lack of categorization. They didn't really know how to market him when he was producing some of the worlds greatest music and they certainly don't know or care to try to market him to that great of an extent now when he's producing very good but not great music.
I'm afraid he will not reign the charts in this environment.

Prince is punked?!
Damn you, Ashton Kutcher! Damn you to helllll!! Seriously though, the charts mean nothing!!! The majority of the crap that charts now-a-days thanks to the handy work of the only 10 companies in the US that control the majority of EVERYTHING we see, hear and read, isn't worth wiping your tush on, anyway! Whatever happens with 3121, Prince will still come out on top. He just has a way of doing that!

music can't b juged by the number of disk sold or by the position of a song in a chart...
but i have 2 say that 3121 won't stay in the minds! its a bad album je suis la foret

I'm afraid he will not reign the charts in this environment. What I don't understand is, Prince signed with Universal, a major record label, so why aren't Universal bribing radio stations to play Prince more and get a chart hit like they do with all their other acts?!

Because no amount of bribes can get them to play Prince. They would lose listeners.
