No More Pimp Songs! Just listening to The Dance and thought it's so ripe for a movie soundtrack. How cool would it be to have something like this performed instead of another Pimp song.
Which of the 3121 songs do you think would be a good soundtrack song/translate into a great Academy Award performance? The main reason for this thread is I was curious to see if viewing the songs in this context (as a separate entity) would change the opinions of them. Especially since some of the least favorite tracks would probably top this list. People seem to categorize to understand. So many here have said that they don't like particular songs because they don't fit the whole. This is why the anomaly has a harder time finding its way on a CD. But separately, that's a different story. Thing is, in 2006 people are listening to playlists possibly more than they are the CD. If not, that number will soon, not only catch up but it will surpass. Anyway, each of these songs will probably find a home on different lists. I'm sure most will have a 3121 list but if we're compiling a list for driving, for dancing, sleeping, or whatever we compile lists for, each of these songs will take on different meaning. Again, the least fav on the CD may become your fav in a different context. We already know one list Satisfied (The song you guys voted off) is going on. Will be interesting to see how these songs are viewed a month from now....and what lists they are added to. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

People seem to categorize to understand.
I think that in itself is a very categorical, general statement. People are individuals, however there are certain kinds of people who relentlessly do this, I agree.

To want to make order is a very human characteristic; even people who absolutely detest rating art and comparing one creation to another, do it, even if only subconsciously.
If I were to name an album or song or a movie or book that someone absolutely loves, it would likely conjure a very strong positive emotion in that person. Conversely if I were to mention something that you didn’t like at all or have little opinion on, those would also produce unique reactions relative to your experience with them. So your brain, like it or not, is always classifying, organizing and “rating", even if you can’t stand the cheapening effects of “9.5” and “C+” labels being attached to art. And you’re right, time is the ultimate test for all art and we would be well served not to lock in too quickly on opinions, as it might make us less open to achieving even a better understanding later. Three years from now “Satisfied” might turn up on some poll of 20 favorite Prince ballads. It really is very difficult to say and context certainly is a big factor, as well as the stronger emotion and expectation that is often heaped on new releases. It took me years to see the genius of “All the Critics Love You in New York”. I’ve always like that song, but now I view it as one of Prince’s greatest works.
