1. Rating 6/10 or 3/5 = GOOD

2. There are aspects synth-wise which remind me of Batman and 1999. Also TCI and TS, but with a phatter, more gleaming production. Other tracks are a continuation of his more earthy TRC and Musicology sound.

3. No. Every album since his drop-off around TGE has been marketed or touted by fans as such. Almost every Prince album is the same... there are some great tracks and some weaker ones and usually nothing he does outright sucks, you know?

2. eh, i don't do the "sounds like..." thing. to me, the only two prince records that sound similar are dirty mind and controversy. this new cd sounds very much like its own thing made by an artist who has done many things.

3. i think prince has been in form since rainbow children. personally, i only have gripes with the 96-00 years.

2. 3121 sounds like which Prince album to you...---A mixture of a lot of Prince albums...People are screaming Rave because it has some commercial shit on it...But it's much more funkier and has a harder edge than that...Again, a lot of you Prince fans just want to hear the man rock out; just admit it and go on from there...

the rave concept, the emancipation disc 1 commercial idea, drums from 'come' and TGE era.

No, I think prince is releasing a real commercial lp here, and sometimes in a good way (3121, the dance, fury), often in a too easy way (lolita) looking for other ways to make commercial music (incense and candles seems prince covering some mtv stuff). I feel some tack real weak too (love, black sweat and beautiful, loved et ceterae).
Nice to see prince makes different music, but not this kind of commercial music, please.
I think this lp could seel well, but I know it could not stay too much on my cd player.

I don't think he ever lost his form, he just made a bland album in my opinion.

For me, Emancipation meets Musicology.

Hmmmm..... I don't rate it as highly as The Rainbow Children, but it will probably be more successful commercially, so it really depends on your definition of "form".

Sounds like Musicology , but there is far more 80s prince on 3121 and the instrumentation on this record is better!

I dont believe in Return to Form shit, tho i would state that since TRC prince has been on a roll and hasnt released any sub par shit.

the only way out is probably a personal disaster (divorce? an addiction?) that makes him sharpen his knives again, but for him as a person i dont wish he will have to go trough that..
