will Prince ever go trough a mid-life revival?

After listening to many tracks of 31:21 (I downloaded leaked tracks of course) i am not very positive about Princes musical future.... He might be one of the great live artists of our time, but on record he again dissapoints in my opinion.

Prince is near his 50's now.. and i have witnessed that some other artists did find their muse again around that age... Lou Reed kicked back strongly with the record New York, Van Morrison sounded more spiritual then before on No Guru, No Method, No teacher, and artists like Tom Waits and Bob Dylan where achieving new (music) critical acclaim.

Do you think Prince has the ability to go trough that kind of 'renaissance'?

You raise very interesting points on Prince's current/future music, but you seem too preoccupied on how dissappointed you are. I would suggest that you accept the fact that the glory days of Purple Rain, SOTT, UTCM and other great albums are over and keep it at that. Prince is going to do the music that he likes, not what you like. If his music does not have any depth then you need to not listen to him anymore, because believe or not, no matter what 3121 sounds like, the fans are going to be packing it heavy now and forever, especially since his live version kicks ass!!!

Just my opinion.

well, to me it sounds Prince is not really following his soul, but bringing out what the (die-hard) fan or the john does are asking for.. he needs to get in touch with his own spirit

I think that's a little bit too personal. You don't know Prince personally to question whether or not he's in touch with his spirit. You have not had the chance to ask him personally why he wrote this song, what was the inspiration or meaning behind any of his songs. You can take a simple song with simple lyrics, yet after asking him a few questions you discover that those simple lyrics carry a deeper meaning.

The bottom line is Prince is not doing the music that you want and you basically just need to move on to other artist. I mean, just by reading your threads you sound depressed! But ofcourse I could be wrong. smile
