People are just unwilling to accept that he can top his 80s stuff, man if this decade keeps on the up we're gonna have a masterpiece by 2009.

At this moment i am not sure which version of Fury is better: the snl-version or the one on the record. I havent listened to both tracks enough (and only from crappy pc speakers to judge about that.

But what i find a bit strange is that some people her say that the vocals on the recorded version are dull and liveless compared to those on the live version. To my ears his style of singing on both versions is the same, the vocals on the live version probably sound a bit more lively because they are...well...live, and because of the different arrangement used on the live version.

Just listen to these two versions one after another and i think you will hear that.

No way man. His vocals on SNL sound like he's actually trying to sing. He sounds like he's talking on the album cut.

I dig the studio version a lot, it's still the same great song. Admitted, the SNL version rocks harder but the studio version is still worth listening to. I bet if you haven't heard the SNL performance you would really like this track. Maybe try to listen at it that way and you could find a new appreciation for it.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

totally agree, 3121 is right up there with his 80s stuff , and if anyone wants to dare argue "controversy", "dirty mind" or "1999" are better than this then they will lose in my mind. 3121 has so much to scream about its amazing, and "fury" is great on record, its classic prince, better than most stuff on "Sign o the Times". People are just unwilling to accept that he can top his 80s stuff, man if this decade keeps on the up we're gonna have a masterpiece by 2009.

I'm as big a Prince fan as anybody, but come on! You're stretching it a bit, mate.
