I don't listen to the radio that much, but I do listen to Wendy Williams. She's a syndicated radio personality in the US. She does the afternoon drive slot. She gossips about the entertaiment industry, what's hot, etc.

This afternoon she was announcing that P's album was coming out on the 21st and that many of the songs are as yet untitled, etc.. all the media stuff.

But as she was talking, her producer played the crickets sound effects in the background, to indicate that this was not really something anyone is paying attention to. Wendy kept reading the press release but started to laugh. She did say that he has such a loyal following that regular flakey listeners like them don't even matter.

It made me sad. Like I said, I'm not really in touch with media news, etc. Still, I don't like that when I do poke my head in, it's to learn that P is considered a footnote in today's pop music universe.

I know all of the reasons (youth obssession, rap dominance, Usher, etc), I'm just saying.

Plus, this makes me feel mad old. Damn.

Wendy is overrated anyway. If anybody's a has been-it's her. I can't imagine making a living off of gossiping about others. So sad .

She's stated in the past that she's not a big fan of P's music. I don't think she's a big fan of music, period. What trips me out is the amount of people who call in for her "advice hour". And they're serious!!!

Why would anyone in their right mind take advice from Wendy Williams?

Wow, and I just started listening to Wendy last week . I had a feeling that she wasn't big on P but I laughed at the line where she said that P has such a loyal following that their opinion wouldn't matter cause she's right. That just speaks of how strong the Prince following is and that's incredible.

I really don't care if everyone likes or dislikes Prince. I love him. I mean I am happy for him when his videos, albums, tours are succeses but just because something is more commerical doesn't make it better in my eyes.

First of all; Wendy Williams is the spawn of the devil and I'm really sorry you torture yourself from time to time with her hatred. She's a horrible person. Some of you enjoy listening her negativity, but even if Jesus himself came down and said this is my new spokesperson, I'd still have a hard time listening to anything that came out of her mouth. She's ghetto, a troublemaker, and hardly anything good ever comes out of her mouth. All of this to say, don't let Wendy Williams EVER make you feel bad or second guess yourself.

P had the highest grossing tour in 2004. He has a hugh following and most of the urban station treat him like his he is a space alien.

Everyday since the concert in Chicago on Feb-27-06, each and every time, I hear something about Prince in the media and especially about the CD which will drop on 3-21-06. I didn't realize she was at a Musicology afterparty.. that adds a bit of color to her commentary.

BTW...she has crazy good ratings, and I have to say... she really cracks me up.. I listen to her every day.

Regarding music, she is really into hip hop and Jamie Fox-style R&B. She even put out a CD compilation of other artists last year.

Basically...

I think her demo is just too young and fickle to "get" Prince --- as she said.It would've been good if she could have made some comments about what the music scene was like when he was running things. That was in her hey-day. And she was a real party girl back then (just a druggin' and a drinkin').

I think that would have given them some context / education and made him more accessible for her audience. And it would have been less of a joke making him seem "has been-ish".

P never was able to fit himself into the whole hip-hop thing, so he's (finally) given up on that. The result is, that he loses a lot of the young audience because.. much as i hate to admit it.. .they are ALL ABOUT hip hop.

That said...F*** 'em!
