I think I was hard on Prince, and have to eat crow on this one. The album is pretty good.

Love is smoking, Missy, but Prince tore up The Dance too. I dunno which I like better, but they are my absolute favorites so far

i was impressed by the ballads, they are all very intricate yet engaging at the same time, some of princes best stuff here!

i was similarly impressed with the uptempo stuff, he isnt tryin to sound old school here, he isnt tryin to sound relevant or ahead of the pack, he is simply tryin to sound like the prince we all love, and it works all the way through the cd.

I know Rude, he may be playin with us. lol. Some of the music is kidding stuff, but some of the songs are really smoking, especially the Dance, which is a great song, very 80's. Love is amazing. Satisfied is wonderful, so is 3121 and lolita. Love has a wonderful groove. Fury is really weak on record; not the fury of the live version.

I said it in some other thread but this is the album for US, the fans. If you were disgusted by Prince's output in the last several years, this album in some shape and form will make you a believer again. It's great to see Rudeboy and others who were disillusioned by Prince be pleasently surprised by him again. It's great and hopefully it'll continue. What a fun year this is going to be for all of us.

i wasn't disgruntled by musicology or rainbow but i will say newpowersoul, emancipation, and rave were incredibly disappointing. this new record takes its cue from a bunch of eras, i think, and that is what keeps it interesting.

Emancipation is much better than this.
