FLAUNT your evil Evil seems a little harsh (but I guess it helps me understand your posts in P and R) but if he gets rid of the tracks from his computer I would see it as absolutely no different then borrowing a friends cd to see if it would be something you were interested in buying it. Even if he did keep them...evil seems very harsh. You might be a litttle over the top. you know? for once your gratuitous jab at me is grounded in reality. to the extent i offended anyone who downloaded the album early, without paying for it and in violation of copyright law, i'm sorry i called your action 'evil'. tacky is a better word.

Those who have already downloaded it won't now have that pleasure for quite some time now. Well I've had it for 5 days and i'm not sure that five days in the great scheme of things really matters does it!? RitaQoS said: I think that everybody who's downloaded it in advance knows damn well that they've spoilt their own experience of a new album release day. But they're not big enough to admit it and would rather just crack on that it's not a problem to them. Of course it is! They were impatient and they all know damn well that buying the physical CD is now just a matter of course, rather than a matter of excited urgency. I don't care how much these people deny it, more than anything, music fans love a brand new, official music release - hence why so many fans are still saying that they'll buy it properly on the day. And buying a physical CD is much more satisfying if you've never heard the songs on it before and can't wait to get it home to experience that magical first listen. We all know that, including the impatient fans. It's a shame for them but they won't admit it.
Well as my copy arrived in the post today your comment doesn't stand... I've not bought it in a shop and it could have arrived today or next Tuesday. As for first time listening to it... I've had that! LAST WEEK! its still my first time listening to it. Am i supposed to be satisfied thinking all the other prince fans are listening to their cd now too if i had waited for release? That still wouldn't apply to me as i have my official copy here today which arrived early. You either do or don't want to listen to it early... those who chose to, its their own decision and you shouldn't pass comment on why we did or what we are missing out on, because frankly, so far everyone has been wrong. It makes no difference... We just hear and experience it a week earlier than most other fans.

At the end of the day by downloading it before the release you have broken copyright laws. Personally I'd rather not do that, so I'm happy to wait until Monday. Patience is a virtue.

Actually i didnt download it... someone else did and gave me the CD. Also, i don't think people should be so naive to think that they don't want you to download the music, many albums are 'leaked' by the record company to create excitement and hype about the music before the official release, this helps media coverage and ultimately sales. I gotta agree that when someone downloads the music, enjoys it and doesn't purchase the CD i think its wrong, but i still own a copy of the official cd so I've paid for the pleasure of listening to his music.

The part about copyright theft is an absolutely fair point. That's a personal opionion and one that I completely respect. The issue at hand wasn't a legal one though it was whether the initial listening was tainted by listening to a download. For me it wasn't, I've had the excitement of first listen and very shortly I'll also have the pleasure of having the CD and a flick through the booklet. A double pleasure must be better.RIP

I've just been out to buy my copy and my headphones are going on for my first ever listen... now.

When something is illicit it's always more exciting anyway . Like I said, everybody has their own view and I'm not saying that your experience is any worse than mine. Similarly, there's no way you can possibly say that my experience has been any worse than yours. It's each to their own. RIP

Personally, the thrill of the booklet was lost on me around the same time I grew pubes, but hey different strokes.

Cute I'll be as thrilled as I've been for the past 20 years. Here's a transcript from me reading the booklet.. "Hmmph, that's mildly interesting. Now to place this in the media closet never to be seen again..." . [Edited 3/21/06 7:23am]

I just prefer to be patient and wait to get the whole thing when it is intended to be experienced, rather than stealing it and just getting the music rather than the whole thing. The booklet, truth be told, is like "Emancipation" part 2 - garish pictures from cover to cover - but it is still nice to get to read the lyrics while enjoying the first listen.
