Prince PLEASE release Fury Live (downgraded) Hey it's worth a try, can I get an AMEN out there?
Ok, I'm downgrading my request to putting a "live" or "rock" version on a single or doing the video live. The studio version has grown on me more. But, I still don't hear a "hit" song as far as the studio version goes. When I watch that SNL performance, I do hear what could be a hit. I don't mean to waffle here, but I want to be fair that I have warmed up to the studio version considerably and it does flow with the album as a whole. [Edited 3/9/06 12:13pm]

I wouldn't mind if P did rerecord fury, but you know it ain't gonna happen.
For, i don't think P is still able to add new tracks to the album.. too late in the game probably (cd's have probably been pressed already)

why???
do you think the version that you have downloaded is in stereo? do you actually believe that it was that good a song anyway? I heard it on SNL and The Brits and neither version impressed me, I hated NPS with a passion but a lot of the material comes across better when performed live. get a grip..... Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I think Byron was right, personally. I am now in love with the album version too! Just turn it up loud and you'll see what I mean!
I bet he'll put the SNL performance on NPGMC at some point, hang in there!

thats awesome...,..... It's not bad. Most mp3's are at 128, but that's where you really can tell it's mp3. For instance, a hihat looses some of it's definition and starts sounding like white noise. At 192 this is a lot better already, but not quite up to the soundquality of a cd. You wouldn't really hear the difference on casual listening though. [Edited 3/7/06 16:49pm] edit to add: upon closer inspection, it's even better.. it's dynamic mp3 which tops at 350 kbs (where needed). [Edited 3/7/06 16:51pm]

People have heard a song being played once, twice at the most if you count the brits, and they expect the studio version is going to sound better than the live version. wake up!!!!! Even then that fan will still find something wrong with it. Prince can't win and if he can't win with his fans then how in the hell can he win with anyone? I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It actually does hit 320 occasionally (they're dynamic mp3's).

i have been temporarily banned from this site twice.
To stop myself from getting banned again im going to bite my tongue...until i draw blood!! Now ,until 3121 got leaked the only version all you had heard of Fury was a live version. But now that you have heard the studio version your not happy with it....Why?? Was it that great a song with to begin with? But now your all happy to slate it after listening to a 3rd rate(quality) version of the album? As far as i'm concerned, i'd like to see the studio-version rerecorded BECAUSE it's potentially such a great song. Banned twice? Is it so hard to restrain yourself? lol

although i have not always agreed with p's choices (i prefer the snl fury also) i would never want p to b anything but the artist he is. yall sound like a bunch of amateur record execs with no musical talent second guessing one of the greatest recording artists in the world. p left warner bros to escape that sort of thing and to have true artistic freedom. I have no prob with people expressing opinions but sitting on ur high horse throwing down negative critism of someone who dwarfs all of us in regards to music in not cool. can anyone recall p ever being negative about another artist?... Besides, any p fan knows that he ALWAYS sounds better live and often improves on the original recorded version. Rememeber, the album version of fury was recorded before snl. We have to accept that no matter what p does he will not keep everyone happy all of the time. no matter what, he will always be my fave artist because of his history of artistic (and free) choices.

The song he performed at SNL is not the song on the cd. I don't know how to be more clear, but there's really no comparison. I am trying to like it, but what's the point. I love the rest of the cd, so I'm not really complaining, just wishing/asking/whatever because there's a forum here (of course he won't see this, but it's worth a try).
Here are the issues I have with the studio version, which sounds like a demo. It's slower, he sings softly, the synths are too loud (although they are catchy), the guitar tone is NOT the tone he got at SNL, the bridge is different and where are the female background vocals. Maybe, just maybe, more mixes will follow. I'm hopeful and not at all panicked.

I'm usuall a Prince defender... and still am, but yo guys are ripping the author of this post for stating the obvious...
When Fury was on SNL the whole net was buzzing. It, like the SNL stage, was on fire. It was a guitar driven, hard rocking, Hendrix-inspired slam to the face. He probably could have released a similar recording the next day and it would have flown up the charts. To deny this is to simply be deaf to the world for those few days after SNL. The album version is much less guitar oriented... the guitar is still there, but it's pushed to the back of the mix while the keyboards are to the fore. The vocal delivery is much more relaxed, less urgent. It doesn't stand out at all from the stuff around it and is a far less obvious single than tracks like Lolita or Love. I think Prince proved on SNL that Fury is better when the guitar is prominent, not the keyboard. But I believe they chose the keyboard version for the album because it fits on the record that way... the whole album is r&b... to throw a rock song in the middle of that would be jarring (that's the one problem I have with TGE... so many styles next to each other makes the album feel disjointed). I think it would be a brilliant move if Prince released Fury as a single, but included as a "B-side" a new, rock-version of the song (a la SNL). Then the dj's could play the kick ass rock version AND the album maintains its flow.

I hear a lot of guitar on Fury. But then i'm listening to it on my kick ass dolby digital system through my xbox 360. "You don't exist again. It's all taken away from you. he sings on SNL with much more passion. You know? that bridge that goes like
"Who are the gulty one? when there are no judges and juries?" used to give me goosebumps, when i heard him singing on the studio version i was very dissapointed. The guitar solos are very mediocre too, the themes are the same but the improvised parts are a mess, less energetic and technically inferior. The guitar tone is not very good too. he fucked up a great song. He did more bad to this song than he did to endorphinemachine.
