Feeling a bit sad that Ultimate is not coming out right away, and that many report the Fury on CD is not what the live version was on SNL. Can U relate? Hey, though, I still got my health. Gotta run to McDonalds now.

I feel absolutely nothing in regards to Ultimate being cancelled. Whenever I heard announcements about it I thought: Cool. That might be kinda cool to get in a few months or so.

Am I the only one who was unexcited about another best of with extended versions?

I'm bummed too. It would've been great to have a new Prince collection out to compliment the hype of the new album.

Remastered and extended had me majorly :drool:ing. Hopefully it comes out eventually.

I am somewhere imbetween the above 2 posts about the greatest hits. I have not heard all the extended mixes, and would have enjoyed. Disc 1 looked boring, and too repetitive of previous greatest hits. Could have been improved (and maybe will be yet if it ever gets released. Ta Ma Corozon, nice song, but Black Sweat hurts my ears. Not sure if I will enjoy the new release, but I am still caught in the hype. Be nice if it was near as good as the music on Rainbow Children.

Well, it can be if it's a deluxe edition and they include bonus tracks.

But what they do with remasters is track down the original source tapes and clean them up with modern technology to make them sound fresher and more crisp. A good remastering job doesn't change anything about the original, just updates it. It's like restoring an old, worn-out, time faded painting. You know how old Prince CD's like "Sign O The Times" and "Dirty Mind" sound really quiet and muffled compared to something newer like "The Gold Experience" or even "Graffiti Bridge"? Well, they boost 'em up so that the volume level is loud and the sound is perfect. Bowie's had at least 3 sets of remasters for his classic work now. Prince hasn't had any. Every important artist should.

I wasn't that fussed about the first disc, even if the tracks are remastered. I have even heard all the 12 inch versions on the second disc - however, some of these were only available on vinyl and the mp3s I have are clearly transfers from vinyl and the quality is certainly not as good as they would have been on this direct-to-CD transfer, and that is why I would have bought this collection - the improvement in quality on the 12 inch mixes which I love.

Here's a thought. Go back to the drawing board and come back with and inexpensive, but thorough 12" box set.
