Moderator | I hear more of a "The Undertaker meets Crystal Ball" in this one, kinda fusion of the two.
My musician buddies didn't dig it at all. Basically because of the simple drum pattern and "Vai-ish" guitar solo as if "It's been done already". I myself REALLY dig this one over the entire album thus far with "The Word" as a close second. Not sure what he's saying about "Spiders" and all but the hook is melodically very cool too me. NOTHING sounds complete though, including the title track. I have this purple pimple prickel feeling that we are still in for a suprise come 3/21. Could be wrong, often I am ... But ads saying things like "Historic new album?" Pretty bold statement for what I've heard thus far. All Rights Reserved. |

Thank God he didn't do to this song what he did with SM Groove. Kept it sparse and funky and trippy. PERFECT. I cannot believe people would not like this song. It's hella funky You can remove the FunkyOrgangrinder but ya still got SUPAsexy! The org's original hottie

Ooh Crystal Ball! I'd love for there to be a 10 minute extended version of 3121. Bring back the extendeds Prince! Man that would be too hot if he did that. He should bring back the extended versions. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I mean the track is OK I s'pose, I can see why people would liking it, but just like 'What Do You Want Me 2 Do', a few new versions of old tricks doesn't impress me. The song still sounds like something from NPS/High-era. It's kinda close to something you might have heard from the Batman era - that sparse electronic sound, just that little bit lacking in melody to be memorable or hummable. Exactly...I thought I was the only one that had this feeling...specially the beggining...totally "Eye Wonder"

It IS Sonny and Michael
The question is: were they invited to play on this one, or Prince simply revamped a 90s jam and added hornz? I think it works real nice as an ´intro´

About the line "U can come if U want 2, but U can never leave"...
- there is a very similar one in "Hotel California" by the Eagles.

Even tought there is obviously a different sound, I agree with you on this. "3121" reminds me in many way of "Le Grind", especially in the beginning part (how it starts, the voices, the overall feeling...), and I can see why it is the first track on the CD. They're different, but IMHO they share some similarities.
