"Still Would STand All Time" appreciation thread I was just listening to the Grafitti Bridge soundtrack and just gained a newfound appreciation for this song. I always liked it, but the lyrics seem like a precursor in some ways to The LOve We Make.
It (SWSAT) is possibly P's most passionate vocal and IMO his best pre-Rainbow Children spiritual song. WHat do you all think? "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

It's always been one of my alltime favorite Prince songs. Reminds me of that beautiful summer the album was released. Claire Fisher's strings are powerful and emotional. One of his best.

I love Still Will Stand All Time. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I think because it was attached to such a lousy project (IMO), it has gone undiscovered.
There were some gems on Grafitti Bridge, but this would be in my top 10 all time Prince songs. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

It's beautiful. One of my favorite prince spiritual songs (as opposed to some of those horrible religious songs/statements that came later and were forced-feed down ur throat).
I also love the live small club version from '88 when he was still just experimenting/forming/discovering/creating it - that must of been a great night to see prince live - SWSAT, Forever In My Life, Just my Imagination - he was on a complete 'nother level all together - and that guitar.... damn he was in the zone and channeling God that night "whose the fool singing 'will', it's WOULD!"

KrystleEyes said: "whose the fool singing 'will', it's WOULD!" damn, you beat me to it! I have nothing to add to this thread other than that line, cause I never really got into this song. Maybe I'll go listen to it again.... The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

There were some gems on Grafitti Bridge, but this would be in my top 10 all time Prince songs. That the movie and the non-Prince tracks largely sucked takes away from how brilliant most of the purple songs on this album are. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Used to be and may still be my all time favorite Prince song. I played that one over and over as a teenager. It really spoke to me.
